P150 comes in around 64k and FZ is around 72k … (correct me if wrong)…. so giving tubeless tires additional to P150 isnt much. And less mileage is the issue… so why not to try P200 comes around 74k…
awesome design… 18bhp… gr8 pickup…. fantastic in handling in city as well as on highways… and yes, it has both tubeless tires and oilcooled…

Go for pulsar, yamaha’s after sale service is horrible, takes weeks for parts to arrive, with the fiber tank it’s more sopisticated to drive on heavry traffic, Pulsar is common, reliable no problem with parts.
more over in FZ 16’s the LCD display looks ugly in red. Head light is different and looks good to be honest.
and is too costly for a 150 cc bike.
Pulsar rocks. Jst think sensibly for sometime.

Hi Guys….Yamaha is not a company boomed within a year or a 15 year back…its a retro company and showed the world …the power and performance of japanese biking. Its the company who won Many Motogp and anyone can find Yamaha fanclub all over the world. Fz is a bike which gonna rock our Indian road for sure. Bajaj Pulsar really tired the eyes of every Indian. Thank for the Designer who made Pulsar famous and remember guys…if Pular would have been a sucess…Bajaj company Directors should have start Begging in the road side. And 150cc pulsar, 180cc and 200cc pulsar are almost same in design. Come one guys…Go for Yamaha, the name is meant for Power, handling and performance…GOOD LUCK

go in for the new generation things!!
its the same phenomenon that occurs when you go and purchase clothes!!
you dont want to buy clothes that wrerof of grandfathers age!!
dudes think 4 urself!!!!
this is the new gen bike!!!
only prob it has got that it is 5-8kmpl less mileage efficient!!!
but this shud not be the only criteria!!!!!!
if you take a nlong term basis, pulasar wud die within 4 years of usage, whereas fz wont coz its got asuperb bilke life!
also maintenance cost is low!!
so this low maintenance cost will cover what all pulsar does on mileage!!!!
i asked some professional about it and they preffered me FZ 16!!1
NOW WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ??????????????

hey Thanks Guys For This Really Gud Discussion Over The Benifits & Disadvantages Of FZ over Pulsar.
guys what I Think Is that The only thing Which Is Stopping The New Hands To grab Pulsar180 is its old looks.
FZ 16 have really great Handling But one must also keep in mind that the Engine is experimented.
What will happen If the Engine doesnot Last for Long????
A Middle Class Person Doesnot afford to change a Bike Costing 70k in a Year or 2.
Since The pulsar is old & trustfull regarding the engine performance I Think I Should Go with Pulsar 180 which is costing about 65k on road.
we here at my place didnt have a good automatic workshop for yamaha.
So Now What Do You think M I Right To Have A Pulsar 180 except FZ16

Well Guys, Ive gone through all of ur feedbacks. But when it comes to FZ-16, i will say ,it is a alot better bike than pulsar. Initially , I was worried about its mileage but you all be suprised to know that FZ-16 can give you mileage upto 60km/lt. Basically ,you’ve to improve your driving techniques.FZ-16 is optimised with its RPM.I have been tunning the rpm accordingly as it new bike so with every ride engine frees itself n the rpm increases.Once you get the correct rpm trust me you wouldn’t go for any other bike.

hi, Fr im using pulsar 150 by last five years when bajaj just change its logo my bike was first in my city awsome bike.i think this is best for indian people and indian roads if u r planing to by 150cc then not any bike can beat pulsar 150 because of looks, cost, milage, all in one bike but if u have more budget than go for other bikes fz is just launched now i think this bike have to handle indian roads, hot weather
so dont confuse in pulsar or fz go for pulsaronly if like some time new look then go for fz neg point in fz is milage, headlight, meter console is too bed but plus point is 260mm front disk break pulsar has 240mm pulsar gives 55 to 60 in any condition.so go for 150 dtsi

first of all sorry for my english.
i own a FZ 16 ,1 week ago done the first service
before the first service iam so disappointed with its power ,it gives the power almost same as unicorne and pulsar 150 .i thought it can give more than that
got milage 45-50 ,but two times it gives 55+.
after first service it is unbelivable.
2 days ago i ride a pulsar 200 (speed of 100+kmh) and when i ride my FZ after that .it gives the power almost same as a pulsar 200 can give.belive it or not it is realy true.
befor first service my fz takes about 5-6 seconds to reach 0-60
but after the first service it takes only 4-4.5 seconds to reach that speed.
i got the milage 40-50.
Now iam a proud and happy owner of FZ 16

Hi GUys,
I go for Yamaha anyday. Fz has a powerful engine and great looks. Try new Fz-s. Pulsar is a good bike but very common. Fz-s will also become coomon but after 2-3 years. So buy Fz now and flaunt it. You cannot flaunt pulsar. Yamaha is going to launch great bikes ahead and so service will also improve. It is just a matter ot time, it will take over Bajaj.
Thanks,

no doubt that pulsar has brilliant past record, but it is very common bike in India. and its time to change.
n FZ has different looks n different features(like tubeless tyres, monocross shocker, full digital audometer etc )
bcos of wide rear wheel it gives better traction at high speed and at wet roads and also better control.
pickup is also better than pulsar
YAMAHA is japanees technology, as from previous record of yamaha it requires less maintenance than pulsar, therefore it costs around same as pulsar with great looks
therefore I go for YAMAHA FZ

Its wrong to say that Pulsar would incur more maintenance after few years. I am holding the pulsar 180 since 2004. Its a no problem bike. It has done 35000 Kms till now. Still the fuel efficiency is 54 Kmpl in crowded chennai city. with a 5 year old bike, i could easily overtake the yamaha FZ 16 in chennai roads and make it eat my dust.
Styling front, i accept pulsar is a bit old and boring. yamaha is a contemporary bike. Its a best bet on comparison with pulsar 150. If u buy for just style go for FZ 16, but if you buy with your heart pulsar would be one’s choice.
Yamaha has given a tough competition to pulsar, and lets expect this to be a healthy competition where in both the manufacturers could give their best to we INDIANS.

I dont know much about both of these bikes,, but as i heared from my friends and collegues, FZ is great bike, superb looks, low maintainence, a young generation bike, but pulsar is very much common to indian roads. As u have already seen yahama performance in RX-100. People love this bike till now, one of my cousin purchased 12 years old RX-100 in 16000. can u imagine??? See the pulsar has good reputation in market, but if you go for something new and trendy then go for FZ, As i have seen all the comments, one has said that FZ is small bike and somthing like bacha bike, i am totally disagree on this point. I owned Pulsar 180 in Dec2008 & now Fz too & u cant believe, pulsar 180 is no where standing in front of Fzs150 in terms of performance, handling, quality & assured Yamaha service, also felt good with turning heads on road. Dont just be a follower.
As per my views, Fzs is lot better than pulsars (150-200 cc).
Lastly i want to sold out my Pulsar 180, so not convinced till now, contact me thru this blog to purchase the old king.

I ve riden both p150 n p180 n Yamaha fz16.
Man the handling Fz 16 is too good in handling never skids like pulsar.
Had an emergency braking at 75 on Fz16. didnt lose balance.but with pulsar abt to skid n break myself.
Looks- still people are amazed when they see fz16 parked. pulsar is almost 8 years old in market. Though bajaj started this trend but now its yamaha Fz16 which is rockin..almost captured pulsar market.
Mileage difference does nt matter. if people are interested in mileage go for small bikes. Speed matters Fz16 rocks.

i m a twin and my bro has a FZ and me a pulsar 150 (2009) and initially i thought FZ had better handling. But after riding the pulsar on the streets and highways it came out tht it was very tiring to drive the FZ with its leany seating position. and the person sitting behind felt too uncomfortable. Moreover with a person sitting behind it took much more time to reach the 100 mark than the pulsar. Because yamaha being an international brand does not make it too high end . Indian brands can make better bikes too. and the new gearbox for pulsar is way too improved in the pulsar .
so if u want to go for a bike in the 150 cc category i’d say pulsar or unicorn.

After going through this page top-bottom, I have came to a conclusion that, though PULSAR model carry a monotonous old looks, lacks tubeless tyres, and as some on says evolved from a “DNA–AUTORIKSHA GP TECHNOLOGY”, still ITS a win-win over FZ-16 for indians.
Being an INDIAN, I would always and anyways prefer to go for a pulsar bcoz of its proven track and good enough height for tough and tall boys.
After all with looks performance does matter (ab aaj bhi pulsar itni bhi buri nahi lagti dekhne mein).
thanks always ride safe

As i have this bike of mine, which gives me problems like misfiring, stops in middle of a ride, 33-37 kmpl at 45-55 km/h. These r just a few. i made several complaints, but no response from service centre. Seventh month n they changed a 70 rs spark plug, which definetly didnt help. Trust mi,im not satisfied with my bike.

Hi guys,
from this i am clear that i have to buy bajaj pulsar 180 dtsi. b’coz it has same power, comfort compared to fzs and even the tubeless tires. coming to the mileage part pulsar is better than fsz. so y to go for fsz if u have all the technologies(style, tubless tires, power…) in pulsar with an added advantage of mileage of 50-55km/l. even the pillion spacing is good. we r driving bikes for our own needs and not to envy others.
and so my ultimate choice is pulsar 180!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
have a happy and safe ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if milege is not a problem then FZ 16 is the best…..but still it can give 40-45..
it has great pikup and pullig when compered to other 150cc bikes, and the fz will not vibrate at any speeds..thats why i sold my pulsar 150 and take the fz16..pulsar cost 62k and fz cost 72k..why that extra 8k?
coz fz16 got
1.tubeless tyre
2.fat and radial tyre 140 rear and 100 front which the pulsar has only 100rear and 80 front..
3.bigger forks
4.monocross suspension
5.better refined engine
6.fantastic looks
7.low maintaines battery.
8.what about the gear .fz16 has got that sporty dummy style gear system and pulsar got that old 100cc bikes gear system….
the new pulsar 150 2009 will cost 68 k and still it has that old gear system and the tyres!!!!!!!!!!!now the difference is ony 4k.if u guys still pay that extra 4k you will get that sporty features in FZ16 . so i will say go for FZ 16……

fz 16-gud luks, excellent handling, good performance in cities, mileage is 40-45kmpl,main con is the pillion seat..mainly ladies seating onesided feel very uncomfortable.during riding this bike i felt unique compared to other bikes and i’m very confident in sharp turnings at speed 80kmph too.
pulsar 150-good package, value for money, mileage 50-55,cons are it feels unsafe during braking at high speeds..personally this gave me a bad experience, luks r common and requires mainteanance after some time..but due to the great package of power,fe,comfort these minor cons can be overlooked.
apache 160-awesome power which is best in its class according to specs, mileage 45-48,cons are many apache owners complain about vibrations within speeds 50-65..but i personally didnt ride this bike and dont know much about it.
after sales service is best in bajaj and yamaha stands last.
i will recommend pulsar150 for its overall goodies.

THE BEST COMMENT……
SORRY FOR THE Bad English…..
I really dont like to comment on this but i think i should…..
Pulsar & Fz 16
See I was a fan for Yamaha till they launched YD
After that dont you people know wat they did with us for years ……
they made many other ugly models with yd’s *%^&^^ engine and all were a flop and after buying the product they will stop the production …so i have a question for those fools who say international international WHERE WERE THE INTERNATIONAL….so i laugh on u …buddies ……SEE ALL COMPANY HAVE FLOP AND SUCCESS…. So please keep quiet………
For those buddies WHO SAY AFTER YEARS PULSAR WILLL bla bla
DID YOU USED Fz FOR YEARS ………. So Pls Shut up
&
For those buddies WHO SAY TUBE LESS bla bla
BOTH COMPANY HAVE TUBE LESS TYPE FOR DIFFERENT MODELS Ok…
&
For those buddies WHO SAY OLD LOOK bla bla
Hello Milk Drinking baby Till this time we never had a good option ..
Your international brand just launched this model now (EVEN TVS LAUNCHED NEW MODELS )…where were your international thing at that time….they made only flop bla bla at that time COZ THEY THINK WE ONLY NEED THAT MUCH dont be a foool try to think some time….So please keep quiet………
So Now I am Comparing the bikes
1.Tall guys (5.7 and above) go for any other bike than Fz or you will understand ur self
2.Pulasr always had problems and they every time rectify the problem in new models…
3.ABt Looks if some one see you riding Pulsar new models they will look for sure and Fz have that quality only when a short person ride that bike.. like me. I am saying this COz looks is a important factor. We all know that. that y we are here…….
4.maintenance is not a big problem for pulsar i think coz its cheep. But i cant say that abt Yamaha.
5.And actually we cant make comments on those just launched now we have to wait for some time…..If Fz is up to mark then i really appreciate .
So I will say Wait for Fz and Pulsar had always problems. and they always rectify that but u know wat are the problems……
SO GO FOR WAT U LIKE MOST…………

Guys what ever u tell pulsar has got 55% of market share in 150 cc segment (read times of india,Zigwheels.com) .all others yamaha, honda, suzuki etc will never be able to take on pulsar.coz they keep on improving the technology & looks. now they have lunched 135 cc version with india’s 1st 4-valve engine. it will pretty soon introduced in 150 segment also.
by looks FZ is good but not for taller person like me (5ft 11) & the back seat is too high. girls do not like it at all. it will look funny.
Mileage, maintenance, spare part availability, even mechanics knowledge is very good on pulsar part.so ur not buying a bike for 1 yr ur atleast buying for 4-5 yrs. so look for this also.
At last what ever any body says pulsar is the “trendsetter” and definitely MALE.

I fell fzs is a small bike for me, but with less effort it gives max 125km/h speed on highways.

If we go for pulsar it is good for 50,000 km’s. But after that its sound changes, noises are heared from engine as well as body parts.Fzs have not much problems like the pulsar. Only the milage problem. But if we ride the fzs in only the economy speed which company suggests it will give us good milage.Because it gives 40-50 km/L in maximum speed. So choose fzs if you want a new generation bike……………………………………….

well… I won’t just flaunt off like the other users did, I won’t blame them, no one calls his stuff bad but say I used a pulsar 150cc(144cc) for 3 years, and it was a 2004 model, it was good all round, I was satisfied but say there have to be changes, I bought an FZ-S in August 2009, I’m giving the details of its advantages & disadvantages
Disadvantages:
1.hits the ground on speedbreakers IF u’r not careful, come on speed breakers r made to lessen the speed..
2. my own bike has never gone beyond the speed of 105km/hr, yea it hurt me at first even my pulsar went 118km/hr but say that speed is enough for the cities and safe for almost all highways yet good
3. lesser riding space? maybe for aunties, my gf sits fine on it and I even had the ladies footrest pulled off, not much trouble man.
disadvantages end here
Advantages:
1.we all know that it looks good, the authorities concentrated on giving it a muscular look
2.The broad MRF zapper tyres give a lot more better grip on the road n it just makes jaws drop open sometimes lol kids asked me “is it a car’s tyre??”
3.the technology in this bike is very similar to that of a sports bike, more power at lesser RPM, it’s great to get the sudden power UNDER CONTROL in the city crowds
4.It possesses not only a single rear shocker that gives great balancing but even further than that it has moncross suspension, the whole weight is concentrated at one spot. gets u even better control for bottoming, sudden cuts ets.
5.it’s parts like the disc brake is stronger than that of my pulsar and even than that of the new pulsars I tried.
My own opinion will be that FZ-S is better than pulsar though u MIGHT have to compromise a little with the top speed, oh I forgot to mention I”M 6 FEET 2 & I’M VERY COMFORTABLE WITH THE BIKE, unless I have to go on very long journeys, because the seat is a little thin, but for that you can opt Fazer, it has improved riding posture and that is the one priced 72,000 not the FZ, FZ-S is worth 68000 and it deserves the price
wanna question how is it similar to sports bikes? look!
1.Great power at low rpm
2. Superb Handling
These two are enough to beat my pulsar, being 6′2 I always had to stress a lot balance. it’s no problem with Fz-s it’s a great city bike, apart from that it’s average is same at all power levels and increases at 100km/hr, though pulsar gives a comparatively lower average at changing RPMs.
Yea the top speed is low but it’s really smooth at the speed of 105km/hr, I would call it a good ride.
Ok I guess it’s getting too long. I recommend an FZ.
Fz16 and FZ-s are same, Fazer’s got same power but looks more sporty and has an improved riding posture, wanna go beyond that?
take a look at the R15 YZF, it is an actually international racing bike there’ve been international Yamaha R15 races, its power hasn’t been leashed like that of FZ, yes Fz has much more power but the company has leashed it for smooth rides.
anyways the final decision will be yours, have fun, be a biker

I forgot to mention something..
I’ve been reading all these blogs since before I bought an FZ-s but now I posted a response myself, the reason is that bajaj is now copying the technology of FZ & Apache to save its sales, they have copied a lot of properties of these bikes and put them in their Pulsar 135cc, they’ve really lost my respect by taking that step….

I have been riding both the bikes the pulsar and the yamaha fz
i found that fz is goood nikr to go for because its tough, muscular looking and less price. Its handling is superb very comfortable to ride with. then comes the pulsar there is no difference between pulsar 150 and 180 except the power if one wants he can very modifie his pulsar150 into 180 at least some changes should be there. It is a heavy bike in front portion with a very bad handling and is also costly than fz. So, i recommend FZ
