i ride both bikes but recently bajaj lauches the new shape pulsar looking gud but not have the power for the new blood in the comparison of yamaha it rocks man . The big fact is that pulsar is a common bike in india . So , i m fedup with this model . Yamaha understand and bring the new looks to the biking.-:) And it will rock on indian roads

  • By raviraj, November 20, 2008 @ 1:54 am

theres not much difference in perfomance but when it comes to looks , fz 16 has an edge over pulsar. but then pulsar offers power without compromising on mileage. overall pulsar is a good option

  • By sim, November 20, 2008 @ 4:48 am

i’ve ridden the fz just now…..i’m in love with that bike. it’s way way more fantastic handler than pulsar and sitting position is comfortable too and it looks huge. but i’m not happy with the speedometer console.and dont compare with any indian company.

  • By vaseem khan, November 20, 2008 @ 1:20 pm

i am really confuse between unicorn n yamaha fz 16… plz sugest me what to buy…

  • By pradeep, November 24, 2008 @ 4:12 am

I ride these teo bikes, there is no much difrance in power, comfort, and style. but when u think about milage, and indian roads Pulsar give everything whitch u want. sporty, well road gripp, exelant brecking, and more. i go with Pulsar.

  • By DMP, November 27, 2008 @ 1:54 pm

    Pulsr … common byk….go for a different and unique lookin byk… Yamaha….Rockzzzz

  • By MOhd Adil, November 28, 2008 @ 2:45 pm

The thing is Yamaha 153cc gives 14bhp and max speed of 132Km/hr. But recently honda is going to launch CBR 150cc Bike which will be of 150cc with 18-19bhp with amax speed of 160km/hr. and this the only bike in 150cc whch can reach 160km/hr. It will be launch in India in Jan or Feb 08.
………..Other than when would yamaha will launch its 165cc bike .freinds it is amazing bike.

  • By vivek sharma, November 29, 2008 @ 6:11 am

yahaha fz 16 rocks and the pulsar is simply a bhed chal

  • By sanjubaba, November 30, 2008 @ 5:30 am

hi guys when u compare both honestly fz 16 far far ahead than pulsar tube less tyres amazing look international bike and lot more go 4 lord of streets

  • By Mak, December 1, 2008 @ 6:39 am

Lookin 4 a bike economical n cool i’l suggest pulsar but not long lasting ..needs maintainc aftr sumtime ..gears r horribl..while yamaha fz ..yamaha ka engine hai..Bajaj se anytime better…so if luking a bike for 3-4 yrs but economical go 4 pulsar

  • By Bhushan R. Anvekar, December 4, 2008 @ 2:40 am

  • By Adhith, December 10, 2008 @ 6:10 am

FZ16- less milage, fiber tank, due to less weight it vobbles at higher speeds,n with a pilion driver try goin on the speed breaker…it touches the base..if u r not careful..its gonna hit hard… N now decide, whether its pulsar or FZ16

  • By DANVEER, December 13, 2008 @ 2:27 am

    HI ,
Friends plz suggent 4 which BIKE i go for their is yamaha fz and pulsar180 .so plzzzzzz SUGGEST ME

  • By abhishek, December 16, 2008 @ 6:10 am

P150 comes in around 64k and FZ is around 72k … (correct me if wrong)…. so giving tubeless tires additional to P150 isnt much. And less mileage is the issue… so why not to try P200 comes around 74k…
awesome design… 18bhp… gr8 pickup…. fantastic in handling in city as well as on highways… and yes, it has both tubeless tires and oilcooled…

  • By gaurav sharma, December 18, 2008 @ 2:34 am

bajaj has pulsar which is its only option in market bt yamaha understands the need of new blood its simply superb now no one recognize bajajs pulsar………YAMAHA FZ 16 ROCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS CHAK DE PHATTE AND PULSAR IS GONE ISKE DIN NAJDIK HAI

  • By Sandeep, December 19, 2008 @ 9:10 am

i think pulsar is best option, m nt gona toward looks, bcz performance is much metter’s. so m going 2 buy pulsr. jai mata di.

  • By Rajesh, December 21, 2008 @ 5:59 am

Kick is required if the slf start fail then…either case its wire connection can be lose any time

  • By Amit, December 25, 2008 @ 1:01 pm

Go for pulsar, yamaha’s after sale service is horrible, takes weeks for parts to arrive, with the fiber tank it’s more sopisticated to drive on heavry traffic, Pulsar is common, reliable no problem with parts.
more over in FZ 16′s the LCD display looks ugly in red. Head light is different and looks good to be honest.
and is too costly for a 150 cc bike.
Pulsar rocks. Jst think sensibly for sometime.

  • By karthik, January 3, 2009 @ 1:34 am

i’m very confused wheather 2 buy pulsar150 or to buy FZ16……pls suggest me the correct option……..

  • By Boney, January 21, 2009 @ 2:14 am

Hi Guys….Yamaha is not a company boomed within a year or a 15 year back…its a retro company and showed the world …the power and performance of japanese biking. Its the company who won Many Motogp and anyone can find Yamaha fanclub all over the world. Fz is a bike which gonna rock our Indian road for sure. Bajaj Pulsar really tired the eyes of every Indian. Thank for the Designer who made Pulsar famous and remember guys…if Pular would have been a sucess…Bajaj company Directors should have start Begging in the road side. And 150cc pulsar, 180cc and 200cc pulsar are almost same in design. Come one guys…Go for Yamaha, the name is meant for Power, handling and performance…GOOD LUCK

  • By Rajeev, January 23, 2009 @ 7:12 am

Fz is gonna rock but i don think it is suitable for taller ppl it looks shorten ir height as well as width…

  • By Anand C, January 24, 2009 @ 10:12 pm

is the dist btw the seat n de handle bar too long?

  • By Vinu, February 6, 2009 @ 8:35 pm

if comparing yamaha fz with pulsar coz pulsar got that muscular lukz thatz lacking in fz and fz doesnt have the height and width that of pulsar… its a toy made for little boyz….only the cool thing is the yamaha engine…but it is wrong vehicle that all….fz suckz….PULSAR rulzzzzzzzzzz…..guyz don go 4 a toy vehicle…..if ur a biker go 4 the real machine…not a toy machine….tats all i want to say….have a great day folks……..

  • By naresh, February 10, 2009 @ 2:36 am

hey guys think different go for yamaha. yeah pulsar is a good one but no changes in its style.thats wat the problem. both r good one but if u r looking for mileage better 2 have pulsar. its having better control handling when long drives. But u take the pulsar it will give more maitanace charges just fuck Fz 16 is a reall gud bike … With good power .. I just love the bike ….

  • By Sanjay Ghosh, February 12, 2009 @ 10:00 am

I just ride FZ 16 and find the petrol tank quite bulky. The kick start is missing, milleage is around 40km/litre.At the price of Fz 16 you could easily buy Pulsar 200 which is far better than Fz 16

  • By joemon varghese, February 18, 2009 @ 8:19 am

    listen up dudes !!!!!

    bajaj pulsar is old!!!!!!11

go in for the new generation things!!

its the same phenomenon that occurs when you go and purchase clothes!!

you dont want to buy clothes that wrerof of grandfathers age!!

    dudes think 4 urself!!!!

this is the new gen bike!!!

only prob it has got that it is 5-8kmpl less mileage efficient!!!

but this shud not be the only criteria!!!!!!

if you take a nlong term basis, pulasar wud die within 4 years of usage, whereas fz wont coz its got asuperb bilke life!

    also maintenance cost is low!!

so this low maintenance cost will cover what all pulsar does on mileage!!!!

i asked some professional about it and they preffered me FZ 16!!1

NOW WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ??????????????

  • By Abhishek, February 19, 2009 @ 11:21 pm

hey Thanks Guys For This Really Gud Discussion Over The Benifits & Disadvantages Of FZ over Pulsar.
guys what I Think Is that The only thing Which Is Stopping The New Hands To grab Pulsar180 is its old looks.
FZ 16 have really great Handling But one must also keep in mind that the Engine is experimented.
What will happen If the Engine doesnot Last for Long????
A Middle Class Person Doesnot afford to change a Bike Costing 70k in a Year or 2.
Since The pulsar is old & trustfull regarding the engine performance I Think I Should Go with Pulsar 180 which is costing about 65k on road.
we here at my place didnt have a good automatic workshop for yamaha.
So Now What Do You think M I Right To Have A Pulsar 180 except FZ16
    Reply Guyssss……..

Well Guys, Ive gone through all of ur feedbacks. But when it comes to FZ-16, i will say ,it is a alot better bike than pulsar. Initially , I was worried about its mileage but you all be suprised to know that FZ-16 can give you mileage upto 60km/lt. Basically ,you’ve to improve your driving techniques.FZ-16 is optimised with its RPM.I have been tunning the rpm accordingly as it new bike so with every ride engine frees itself n the rpm increases.Once you get the correct rpm trust me you wouldn’t go for any other bike.

  • By Manoj, March 17, 2009 @ 2:27 am

    Hey Frnds,
what would you suggest from CBZ Xtreme and FZ-16,
    mileage is also important…

  • By ram pandey, March 25, 2009 @ 2:26 am

hey guys dont ever think of the pulsor its totally bakwas……
just take a ride of fz 16

  • By Harish, March 28, 2009 @ 2:38 am

    hi guys ,
    I have a brand new fz 16 , Its very nice , pickup is gr8, .
If your confused with pulsar or fz16 , plz go for fz the reason is its top speed is 135 km/hr , n pulsar is 110 , price is a bit high than pulsar but go for it , yamaha is a trusted company , it has produced many bikes , bujaj is good only with pulsar n ppl r bored seeing pulsars on road.

If u like power , speed n performance go for fz16 , all eyes are on fz :)

dare to ride the king of streets :)

  • By manz, March 28, 2009 @ 3:08 am

i want to buy a new 150cc bike so guys plz suggest me which one is good pulsar 180 r fz-s

  • By pulsar king, March 31, 2009 @ 4:04 am

dude pulsar is rocking it have 2spark plugh power accept fz so go 4 pulsar

  • By ds, April 5, 2009 @ 12:21 pm

fz is small..i am 6 ft and its fueltank collide with my knees…no space to sit for your gf…mileage is bad…its expensive…looks better but then even pulsar isnt bad….doesnt make sense if you are not buyin pulsar cuz its common

  • By Nitin Kumar, April 8, 2009 @ 9:54 pm

hi, Fr im using pulsar 150 by last five years when bajaj just change its logo my bike was first in my city awsome bike.i think this is best for indian people and indian roads if u r planing to by 150cc then not any bike can beat pulsar 150 because of looks, cost, milage, all in one bike but if u have more budget than go for other bikes fz is just launched now i think this bike have to handle indian roads, hot weather
so dont confuse in pulsar or fz go for pulsaronly if like some time new look then go for fz neg point in fz is milage, headlight, meter console is too bed but plus point is 260mm front disk break pulsar has 240mm pulsar gives 55 to 60 in any go for 150 dtsi

  • By gokul, April 19, 2009 @ 2:41 am

first of all sorry for my english.
i own a FZ 16 ,1 week ago done the first service
before the first service iam so disappointed with its power ,it gives the power almost same as unicorne and pulsar 150 .i thought it can give more than that
got milage 45-50 ,but two times it gives 55+.
after first service it is unbelivable.
2 days ago i ride a pulsar 200 (speed of 100+kmh) and when i ride my FZ after that .it gives the power almost same as a pulsar 200 can give.belive it or not it is realy true.
befor first service my fz takes about 5-6 seconds to reach 0-60
but after the first service it takes only 4-4.5 seconds to reach that speed.
    i got the milage 40-50.
Now iam a proud and happy owner of FZ 16

  • By Tushar Shimpi, April 22, 2009 @ 11:36 pm

    Hi GUys,

I go for Yamaha anyday. Fz has a powerful engine and great looks. Try new Fz-s. Pulsar is a good bike but very common. Fz-s will also become coomon but after 2-3 years. So buy Fz now and flaunt it. You cannot flaunt pulsar. Yamaha is going to launch great bikes ahead and so service will also improve. It is just a matter ot time, it will take over Bajaj.

  • By Divesh, May 4, 2009 @ 2:51 am

no doubt that pulsar has brilliant past record, but it is very common bike in India. and its time to change.
n FZ has different looks n different features(like tubeless tyres, monocross shocker, full digital audometer etc )

bcos of wide rear wheel it gives better traction at high speed and at wet roads and also better control.
pickup is also better than pulsar

YAMAHA is japanees technology, as from previous record of yamaha it requires less maintenance than pulsar, therefore it costs around same as pulsar with great looks

therefore I go for YAMAHA FZ

  • By fazil, May 4, 2009 @ 7:52 am

i want to buy a new bike plz sujest me which is good .new pulsar 150 or fz-s

  • By Mir Afsar ali, May 5, 2009 @ 1:23 am

i’m very confused wheather 3 buy pulsar150 , Tvs apache, Honda Unicorn & FZ16 Which one buy……pls suggest to me the correct option……..

  • By arvind, May 7, 2009 @ 4:06 am

Its wrong to say that Pulsar would incur more maintenance after few years. I am holding the pulsar 180 since 2004. Its a no problem bike. It has done 35000 Kms till now. Still the fuel efficiency is 54 Kmpl in crowded chennai city. with a 5 year old bike, i could easily overtake the yamaha FZ 16 in chennai roads and make it eat my dust.
Styling front, i accept pulsar is a bit old and boring. yamaha is a contemporary bike. Its a best bet on comparison with pulsar 150. If u buy for just style go for FZ 16, but if you buy with your heart pulsar would be one’s choice.
Yamaha has given a tough competition to pulsar, and lets expect this to be a healthy competition where in both the manufacturers could give their best to we INDIANS.

  • By SHYAM SINGH, May 12, 2009 @ 9:15 am

hi…..the only problem in fz is the sitting space. If your girlfriend is little bit healty then the average she will complaining of space. And in no case u can ride with 3 pepople on fz. But even then i m love in it………..FZ rocks…..Good for slim trim girlfriends……..cha-jao-guru.

  • By Dharm, May 14, 2009 @ 2:38 am

i m very confused wheather 2 buy pulsar150 new model or to buy FZ
S……pls suggest me the correct option……..

  • By Sarang, May 15, 2009 @ 10:40 pm

The price of fz is about 72000 and new pulsar 180 2009 edition comes about 68000. Also p180 has power 17ps and fz has power 14ps then you can find p180 is more powerful. Also new 180 totally looks like p200.

  • By Sarang, May 15, 2009 @ 10:51 pm

I suggest u to buy 2009 edition p180 instead of fz. P180 may have more mileage then fz but not less. Also the power of 180 is more and tyre is also fatter like 220 so u feel great power when u drive it. I m also planning to buy new p180.

  • By Anshh Singh, May 21, 2009 @ 3:03 am

Well !! I dont know much about both of these bikes,, but as i heared from my friends and collegues, FZ is great bike, superb looks, low maintainence, a young generation bike, but pulsar is very much common to indian roads. As u have already seen yahama performance in RX-100. People love this bike till now, one of my cousin purchased 12 years old RX-100 in 16000. can u imagine??? See the pulsar has good reputation in market, but if you go for something new and trendy then go for FZ, As i have seen all the comments, one has said that FZ is small bike and somthing like bacha bike, i am totally disagree on this point. One thing now i will say in Hindi —– ” kissi ke comments par na jao jo apna dil kahe le lo”hhahahahah……..This is right mantra ok……cheers…rohit.

  • By Aman, May 23, 2009 @ 3:42 am

i own a fz n is very happy with its performance but jst its average hurts a little bit otherwise m happier with all its features…….. its got gr8 handling which makes easy in traffic…

  • By Sameer, May 24, 2009 @ 2:18 am

my father said that he would buy me a bike of my choice but when he asked me which bike i was totally confused b/w pulsar or fz but after reading all these comments i would decide to buy FZ because it is different from all other bikes it is also tubeless so no problem of puncher also new design

hi bros dont get confused if u wana go for speed,gr8 pickup and and more lot for anytime anywere service then go for pulsar 150 but if u wana buy fz 16 then it is also a good byke in the sense of look but it is really a choclate byke and just suitable for short hight ppls and also for indians milage matters so i belive you go for pulsar if u r of an economical think but if for a college guy i suggest fz 16

  • By brijesh, June 20, 2009 @ 6:48 am

hi friends this brijesh . i was using bajaj pulsar since last 5 years. its a good bike someone saying about milage is 50 to 55 but i got only 45 tpo 48 . execcelent power and great look . but in today time its very common bike . bajaj only change minor looks . now i purchase yamaha fzs . it have very good pick 0-80 is so fast compare to pulsar. milage i m geeting 40 – 46 .i got only one disadvantage in fzs less pillion space.but looks good everyone watch you on road. On red light you will be first person who will be stand on next red light. after some friends not like my new yamaha fzs and some like so much so everyone have differant taste. but if u spending money than u should be satisfy…………..

  • By raju, June 30, 2009 @ 7:25 pm

finally after this nice blog’s comments, i hav decided to go with pulsar…. bcoz KING IS ALWAYS KING…

  • By Abhay, July 3, 2009 @ 12:24 pm

Dear Raju, Agreed with pulsar as a king but now it got overthroned by Fzs-the new Emperor. y u just want to be act like our ancestors,to go over tried & tested things. I owned Pulsar 180 in Dec2008 & now Fz too & u cant believe, pulsar 180 is no where standing in front of Fzs150 in terms of performance, handling, quality & assured Yamaha service, also felt good with turning heads on road. Dont just be a follower.
As per my views, Fzs is lot better than pulsars (150-200 cc).
Lastly i want to sold out my Pulsar 180, so not convinced till now, contact me thru this blog to purchase the old king.

Pulsar 150 & 180 2009 is “bap of all bikes”

  • By Vijay, July 13, 2009 @ 2:18 pm

    I ve riden both p150 n p180 n Yamaha fz16.
Man the handling Fz 16 is too good in handling never skids like pulsar.
Had an emergency braking at 75 on Fz16. didnt lose balance.but with pulsar abt to skid n break myself.
Looks- still people are amazed when they see fz16 parked. pulsar is almost 8 years old in market. Though bajaj started this trend but now its yamaha Fz16 which is rockin..almost captured pulsar market.
Mileage difference does nt matter. if people are interested in mileage go for small bikes. Speed matters Fz16 rocks.

i riden both the bike but pulsar is pulsar it is very amazing bike ,it siting style is very good, and is very comfortable as compared to fz16 it japppppppppppppp the road.

  • By sush2142, August 3, 2009 @ 11:08 pm

i m a twin and my bro has a FZ and me a pulsar 150 (2009) and initially i thought FZ had better handling. But after riding the pulsar on the streets and highways it came out tht it was very tiring to drive the FZ with its leany seating position. and the person sitting behind felt too uncomfortable. Moreover with a person sitting behind it took much more time to reach the 100 mark than the pulsar. Because yamaha being an international brand does not make it too high end . Indian brands can make better bikes too. and the new gearbox for pulsar is way too improved in the pulsar .
so if u want to go for a bike in the 150 cc category i’d say pulsar or unicorn.

  • By sudeep, August 10, 2009 @ 7:28 am

After going through this page top-bottom, I have came to a conclusion that, though PULSAR model carry a monotonous old looks, lacks tubeless tyres, and as some on says evolved from a “DNA–AUTORIKSHA GP TECHNOLOGY”, still ITS a win-win over FZ-16 for indians.

Being an INDIAN, I would always and anyways prefer to go for a pulsar bcoz of its proven track and good enough height for tough and tall boys.
After all with looks performance does matter (ab aaj bhi pulsar itni bhi buri nahi lagti dekhne mein).

    thanks always ride safe

Trust mi guys , i bought a new FZ 16 in jan 2009. It really hurts tu say that teh bike has a lot of technical glitches. I expected yamaha tu du good but, this one really is not worth it. As i have this bike of mine, which gives me problems like misfiring, stops in middle of a ride, 33-37 kmpl at 45-55 km/h. These r just a few. i made several complaints, but no response from service centre. Seventh month n they changed a 70 rs spark plug, which definetly didnt help. Trust mi,im not satisfied with my bike.

    this is good

  • By sumit pal, September 8, 2009 @ 2:39 am

i think the choice is urs ,go for fz if u looking for an entertaining bike with uniq style but i dont consider it 2 b a family bike ;pillon seat is less &high milege is around 35-30km/l while as if u wan a b economical go for pulsar , u will b able to satisfy ur aspirations.

  • By NTJ, September 13, 2009 @ 11:59 am

YAMAHA IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!you cannot compare japaneese technology with indian technology.moeover yamaha is world famous.on the other hand, pulsar have become very common and its era is gone!!!!i personally prefer YAMAHA.YAMAHA ROCKZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • By Raj, September 16, 2009 @ 2:14 am

    Hi guys,
from this i am clear that i have to buy bajaj pulsar 180 dtsi. b’coz it has same power, comfort compared to fzs and even the tubeless tires. coming to the mileage part pulsar is better than fsz. so y to go for fsz if u have all the technologies(style, tubless tires, power…) in pulsar with an added advantage of mileage of 50-55km/l. even the pillion spacing is good. we r driving bikes for our own needs and not to envy others.
and so my ultimate choice is pulsar 180!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

have a happy and safe ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • By GG, September 16, 2009 @ 9:20 pm

if milege is not a problem then FZ 16 is the best…..but still it can give 40-45..
it has great pikup and pullig when compered to other 150cc bikes, and the fz will not vibrate at any speeds..thats why i sold my pulsar 150 and take the fz16..pulsar cost 62k and fz cost 72k..why that extra 8k?
    coz fz16 got
    1.tubeless tyre
2.fat and radial tyre 140 rear and 100 front which the pulsar has only 100rear and 80 front..
    3.bigger forks
    4.monocross suspension
    5.better refined engine
    6.fantastic looks
    7.low maintaines battery.
8.what about the gear .fz16 has got that sporty dummy style gear system and pulsar got that old 100cc bikes gear system….
the new pulsar 150 2009 will cost 68 k and still it has that old gear system and the tyres!!!!!!!!!!!now the difference is ony 4k.if u guys still pay that extra 4k you will get that sporty features in FZ16 . so i will say go for FZ 16……

  • By Deepak Garg, September 17, 2009 @ 12:14 am

hi… every body my dad is ready to buy a bike for me of my choice.
now i m confuse that which one is the out of FZ 16, PULSAR 150, and APACHE RTR. so please suggest me. for which one i will go on

    mail me on

  • By nitin, September 21, 2009 @ 12:22 am

    @deepak garg

fz 16-gud luks, excellent handling, good performance in cities, mileage is 40-45kmpl,main con is the pillion seat..mainly ladies seating onesided feel very uncomfortable.during riding this bike i felt unique compared to other bikes and i’m very confident in sharp turnings at speed 80kmph too.

pulsar 150-good package, value for money, mileage 50-55,cons are it feels unsafe during braking at high speeds..personally this gave me a bad experience, luks r common and requires mainteanance after some time..but due to the great package of power,fe,comfort these minor cons can be overlooked.

apache 160-awesome power which is best in its class according to specs, mileage 45-48,cons are many apache owners complain about vibrations within speeds 50-65..but i personally didnt ride this bike and dont know much about it.

after sales service is best in bajaj and yamaha stands last.

i will recommend pulsar150 for its overall goodies.

    SORRY FOR THE Bad English…..

I really dont like to comment on this but i think i should…..

    Pulsar & Fz 16

See I was a fan for Yamaha till they launched YD

After that dont you people know wat they did with us for years ……
they made many other ugly models with yd’s *%^&^^ engine and all were a flop and after buying the product they will stop the production …so i have a question for those fools who say international international WHERE WERE THE INTERNATIONAL….so i laugh on u …buddies ……SEE ALL COMPANY HAVE FLOP AND SUCCESS…. So please keep quiet………

For those buddies WHO SAY AFTER YEARS PULSAR WILLL bla bla
DID YOU USED Fz FOR YEARS ………. So Pls Shut up

For those buddies WHO SAY TUBE LESS bla bla

For those buddies WHO SAY OLD LOOK bla bla
Hello Milk Drinking baby Till this time we never had a good option ..
Your international brand just launched this model now (EVEN TVS LAUNCHED NEW MODELS )…where were your international thing at that time….they made only flop bla bla at that time COZ THEY THINK WE ONLY NEED THAT MUCH dont be a foool try to think some time….So please keep quiet………

So Now I am Comparing the bikes

1.Tall guys (5.7 and above) go for any other bike than Fz or you will understand ur self

2.Pulasr always had problems and they every time rectify the problem in new models…

3.ABt Looks if some one see you riding Pulsar new models they will look for sure and Fz have that quality only when a short person ride that bike.. like me. I am saying this COz looks is a important factor. We all know that. that y we are here…….

4.maintenance is not a big problem for pulsar i think coz its cheep. But i cant say that abt Yamaha.

5.And actually we cant make comments on those just launched now we have to wait for some time…..If Fz is up to mark then i really appreciate .

So I will say Wait for Fz and Pulsar had always problems. and they always rectify that but u know wat are the problems……

  • By Saif, September 26, 2009 @ 1:42 am

  • By Nix, October 7, 2009 @ 5:48 am

Yamaha is the best. I raced with That SUCKING Pulsar 180 and was nothing compared to FZ coz it was much far from my bike. If 180 goes behind so what would have happened with that 150. Anyway Guys I recommend YAMAHA.

  • By kiran, October 11, 2009 @ 12:00 am

  • By alfred, October 11, 2009 @ 12:06 am

accleration is very hard,,,,,,,yamaha should think on it

  • By HARDCORE, October 22, 2009 @ 3:25 am

  • By sean, November 1, 2009 @ 5:37 pm

    hold on…..guys…..
i was a owner of bajaj caliber three years bak….i know.. n also the people out there who owned bajaj knows that the main issue with bajaj is chains pracket….i still remember as a single had user i use to change it every 8-10 months….and also u hear lot of songs from the engine after 1 year…..i accecpt the truth that pulsar gives more mileage than the FZ 16…..but think about after 2 years……do u still think u spend more on bajaj or Yamaha?…….no doubt bajaj has their standards in the market….but yamaha is the king of all the bikes….even now go around and check the price of second hand RX-100 and RD….u will come to know how the maintainance is and also durabality… don’t repent after 4 years and then search for second hand FZ-16..cos u wont get then..So go out and buy FZ-16 happyly……

    Yahama ROCKS…….!!!!!!!! LoL’s….

  • By rajesh, January 5, 2010 @ 4:56 am

Guys what ever u tell pulsar has got 55% of market share in 150 cc segment (read times of india, .all others yamaha, honda, suzuki etc will never be able to take on pulsar.coz they keep on improving the technology & looks. now they have lunched 135 cc version with india’s 1st 4-valve engine. it will pretty soon introduced in 150 segment also.

by looks FZ is good but not for taller person like me (5ft 11) & the back seat is too high. girls do not like it at all. it will look funny.

Mileage, maintenance, spare part availability, even mechanics knowledge is very good on pulsar ur not buying a bike for 1 yr ur atleast buying for 4-5 yrs. so look for this also.

At last what ever any body says pulsar is the “trendsetter” and definitely MALE.

  • By rakesh, January 5, 2010 @ 11:25 pm

i got a yamaha fazer.its ve been 1 month since i purchased no probs in pick up and mileage around 46-50.pillion space is less.its a head turning bike wth all round performance.a bit costly but its ok for the international brand

    hey all,

I am a bike fan, have changed 5 to 6 bikes. Starting from oldest pulsar to fzs. all thru my journey, now the best bike is fzs. the handling is superb, this avoids aggressive accidents. On long drives pulsar troubles a lot with its noise and back pain.

I fell fzs is a small bike for me, but with less effort it gives max 125km/h speed on highways.

  • By syed, January 19, 2010 @ 3:29 am

Yamaha fz is the best bike ever made in india. Yamaha is all over best. no confusion!!!!!!!!!! Every bike has some problem. I suggest – move with new generation model, International brand, low maintenance, not common bike, mono-cross jumper, (Totally it is o sum ) no confusion

  • By jithu, January 22, 2010 @ 6:11 am

My friend ride both pulsar 150 & the new yamahafzs. But he is only complaining about the less milage of fzs. But i intrested in fzs because it has great looks.
If we go for pulsar it is good for 50,000 km’s. But after that its sound changes, noises are heared from engine as well as body parts.Fzs have not much problems like the pulsar. Only the milage problem. But if we ride the fzs in only the economy speed which company suggests it will give us good milage.Because it gives 40-50 km/L in maximum speed. So choose fzs if you want a new generation bike……………………………………….

Really good work about this website was done. Keep trying more – thanks!

  • By Kunal Arora, March 21, 2010 @ 9:22 am

well… I won’t just flaunt off like the other users did, I won’t blame them, no one calls his stuff bad but say I used a pulsar 150cc(144cc) for 3 years, and it was a 2004 model, it was good all round, I was satisfied but say there have to be changes, I bought an FZ-S in August 2009, I’m giving the details of its advantages & disadvantages
1.hits the ground on speedbreakers IF u’r not careful, come on speed breakers r made to lessen the speed..
    2. my own bike has never gone beyond the speed of 105km/hr, yea it hurt me at first even my pulsar went 118km/hr but say that speed is enough for the cities and safe for almost all highways yet good
    3. lesser riding space? maybe for aunties, my gf sits fine on it and I even had the ladies footrest pulled off, not much trouble man.
    disadvantages end here
1.we all know that it looks good, the authorities concentrated on giving it a muscular look
2.The broad MRF zapper tyres give a lot more better grip on the road n it just makes jaws drop open sometimes lol kids asked me “is it a car’s tyre??”
3.the technology in this bike is very similar to that of a sports bike, more power at lesser RPM, it’s great to get the sudden power UNDER CONTROL in the city crowds
4.It possesses not only a single rear shocker that gives great balancing but even further than that it has moncross suspension, the whole weight is concentrated at one spot. gets u even better control for bottoming, sudden cuts ets.’s parts like the disc brake is stronger than that of my pulsar and even than that of the new pulsars I tried.

My own opinion will be that FZ-S is better than pulsar though u MIGHT have to compromise a little with the top speed, oh I forgot to mention I”M 6 FEET 2 & I’M VERY COMFORTABLE WITH THE BIKE, unless I have to go on very long journeys, because the seat is a little thin, but for that you can opt Fazer, it has improved riding posture and that is the one priced 72,000 not the FZ, FZ-S is worth 68000 and it deserves the price

wanna question how is it similar to sports bikes? look!
    1.Great power at low rpm
    2. Superb Handling
These two are enough to beat my pulsar, being 6’2 I always had to stress a lot balance. it’s no problem with Fz-s it’s a great city bike, apart from that it’s average is same at all power levels and increases at 100km/hr, though pulsar gives a comparatively lower average at changing RPMs.
Yea the top speed is low but it’s really smooth at the speed of 105km/hr, I would call it a good ride.
Ok I guess it’s getting too long. I recommend an FZ.
Fz16 and FZ-s are same, Fazer’s got same power but looks more sporty and has an improved riding posture, wanna go beyond that?
take a look at the R15 YZF, it is an actually international racing bike there’ve been international Yamaha R15 races, its power hasn’t been leashed like that of FZ, yes Fz has much more power but the company has leashed it for smooth rides.
anyways the final decision will be yours, have fun, be a biker

  • By Kunal Arora, March 21, 2010 @ 9:28 am

    I forgot to mention something..
I’ve been reading all these blogs since before I bought an FZ-s but now I posted a response myself, the reason is that bajaj is now copying the technology of FZ & Apache to save its sales, they have copied a lot of properties of these bikes and put them in their Pulsar 135cc, they’ve really lost my respect by taking that step….

  • By shantanu vikram singh, March 28, 2010 @ 7:39 am

I have been riding both the bikes the pulsar and the yamaha fz
i found that fz is goood nikr to go for because its tough, muscular looking and less price. Its handling is superb very comfortable to ride with. then comes the pulsar there is no difference between pulsar 150 and 180 except the power if one wants he can very modifie his pulsar150 into 180 at least some changes should be there. It is a heavy bike in front portion with a very bad handling and is also costly than fz. So, i recommend FZ

  • By thamil, April 11, 2010 @ 3:38 am

    Greetings Bikers..

Myself and my friends are using pulsar(150,180,New 150 DTSI) since its launch in 2001. We have covered almost most of the South India(Ooty,Kodaikanal,Managalore,Hyderabad,Gokarna,Coorg,Munar,Tekdi,Waynad and many more)in these bikes..
Pulsar is pretty good on mileage, performance and power.. But after a few years it’s engine produces a grinding sound and asks for more and more performance.. And my friends handling and disk braking is not so comfortable..

Very recently myself and couple of my friends bought FZS.. and we travelled around 500 kms..

    Greetings Bikers..

Myself and my friends are using pulsar(150,180,New 150 DTSI) since its launch in 2001. We have covered almost most of the South India(Ooty,Kodaikanal,Managalore,Hyderabad,Gokarna,Coorg,Munar,Tekdi,Waynad and many more) in these bikes..
Pulsar is pretty good on mileage, performance and power only in the FIRST FEW YEARS.. But after that it’s engine produces a grinding sound and asks for more and more MAINTENANCE.. And my friends handling and disk braking is not so comfortable..

Very recently myself and couple of my friends bought FZS.. and we travelled around 500 kms..

    Disadvantages include:

    1) Uncomfortable for pillion rider on long drives..
    2) Mileage.. Between 35 to 40 in City.. & 45 to 50+ on Hihways..

    Not Satisfied yet…

Let me list few advantages of FZS upon Pulsar…

    1) Eye catching headlights..
    2) Radial and super wide tyres…
    3) Monoshock suspension…
    4) Attractive silencer..
    5) Very good center of gravity unlike in pulsar after riding 100+, You develop shoulder pain..
    6) Superb handling..

So with all that explanation, I hope my exp would be of any service to you folks..

Lastly if you can afford for R15.. Go for it undoubtedly..
If you are confused between FZ and Pulsar.. Go for FZS undoubtedly..

All the very best and remember drive safely.. Bye..

hey all m guneet from new delhi.. iv been riding fz16 from 16th june 2009 till now.. & i must say.. yamaha jus rocked man.. i beat pulsar 150 2008 model, new pulsar 180 2009 on a straight road of around 1 km.. i even covered up karizma’s single rider vs ma fz with a pillion rider one day… the maximum speed id reached was around 117-118 kmph which is sufficient for a 150cc bike guy.. i dun really care abt the average as i always keep on revving up ma baby but if i ride it very softly on an economic speed then it gives me around 42kmpl & if i ride as i always do like mostly around 70-80kmph & abuv.. it gived me average around 36kmpl…. even ma friends who have pulsars loves to ride ma bike. & they themselves admit dat yamaha really knw how to make bikes..:P.. & if u shift the gear in a proper rpm ratio like i do.. then ull definitely get a grunt out of that beautiful low-end torgue engine.. & cruising on this bike in a raining season is jus very pleasureful without much caring abt slipping down jus coz of its wide tyres & its light weight makes u worry-free ur mind to give special attention on “handling” this bike whether its on a lowest speed or on high speed or on corners ..& something abt kick then dun have to wrry abt it coz it is not at all a problem for this bike.. it neither gave me any problem in winters nor in monsoons these days also.. so to ppl who are makin their minds for this bike.. i wud say to go for it blindly without any doubts.. if u have any doubts.. then jus right them here only… :) .. rock on & play safe..!!

  • By Guneet, July 12, 2010 @ 9:42 am

p.s the spare parts of the bike are available easily here in delhi.. at a very resonable price.. i had purchased mine fz from “DELHI SCOOTERS”, Rajouri Garden, New Delhi- 15.. & get it to service on “DELHI SCOOTERS” service station which locates on its backside… :) ..!!

  • By vicky, July 14, 2010 @ 8:25 am

fz s is the stylish one..
    big tyres… comfort sittng…
    good breaking system…
fz s rocks and rules our roads…

  • By VINAY, July 15, 2010 @ 8:19 am

hi guys , being emotional is a different thing but the fact remains pulsar 150 use to rule d roads but it has aged with time. evn i had a pulsar 150 but problem with it is the built quality within 2 years the bike wearz out. the smooth sound turns into an ugly howl.. we cant deny the fact tht this is the problem with all bajaj products.. wer as i have fz now for more thn 1nd half years i can still feel the ruggedness of the bike.. the feel of an fz can be compared to pulsar… nd is u guys talk about mileage better go for a splender … fill it nd shut it bike .. its time to agree it d new era of yamaha thts flowing in

  • By Kamal sandhu, July 19, 2010 @ 2:14 am

pulsar is bakwas. Sunny u’r cheap as well as u’r pulsar .friends pulsar costs 60000 bucks and fazer 81000 on road so pulsar is cheap ….third class bhikari bike ,,,, aur pulsar ke chahane walo tumhari girlfriend bhi fazer ki our dekh ke aankh marati hai ..

  • By Shanu, July 30, 2010 @ 2:40 pm

    Hi All,
Pulsar was one out of every 2 bikes you would have seen on the road on south India until probably last year. Now things are changed. After the launch of FZ youth is crazy about this machine. It is worth checking where are the Pulsar bikes launched after 2002 gone? They are ruled out from the road! The same story about TVS bikes as well (eg Victor). However you can still see Hero Honda (Splendor and Passion) as well as Yamaha (Libero, Crux etc) still on the road even after 10 years with out much issue. This proves the durability of Japanese technology compare to the Indian bikes. If you want the ‘economical bike’ only for 2-3 years of course Pulsar is for you! After 3 years the 5kms/litre you would have enjoyed earlier will penalize you! If you wanted solid performance with low maintenance for many more years go for Yamaha. According to my experience on both the bikes (both are almost same on power delivery and performance) the better handling, road grip and confidence on taking curves at higher speeds are making FZ far ahead of the rival. Finally, the thundering, macho muscular handsome-FZ makes the ‘definitely male’ introverted.

YAMAHA bike’s are much more better than pulsar. in pulsar gear problem is more. For long tour FZ is best. so FZ is best than pulsar

  • By raman, October 8, 2010 @ 10:58 am

hiiiiiiii all i just bought fzs last month and i am in love with my bike.such great handling far ahead from all pulsars and apache as i drove both before buying it. mileage is an issue as i am getting 45 kmpl but the pleasure of driving fzs is great you forget every thing
siting on fzs i feel so proud to own the machine.i touched 110kmph easily after 1st service so perfect bike if you want handling and looks go for it.when people turn and look at my bike its great feeling.i just find reasons to drive my bike.

  • By suvasis, October 21, 2010 @ 9:42 am

hey guys im just goin insane just give a very good reason to buy fz not pulsar.

  • By RANJAN, October 22, 2010 @ 11:00 pm

Hi guys, I Suggest Both Bikes are good !

But Only Things FZ has Great Looks, Some advantages ( Monocross/tubeless wide tyres etc.. and Sudden Pick up & good Handling Compared too Pulsar 150!

But Pulsar has only thing Great Milleage of 55 to 60 km depends up on you drive !

So Go with Pulsar if your are a Toooo Budget man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • By SuperShibashis, October 23, 2010 @ 5:47 pm

guys i rode both these bikes and currently is a proud owner of the pulsar150cc bike.Anyone who is thinking about investing your funds on yamaha fz have to know that fz comes with a lot inborne problems- kick start.
2.balance not so good as compared to pulsar 150.
3.mileage is also far far better in pulsar150.
4.Also initial pick-up without a doubt is the best in pulsars.
But the most important thing is the instant availablity of spare parts-which is the best part of bajaj bikes.fz also has a smaller chasis.though it has dashing looks n also have the tubeless tyres assurance BUT ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING TO CRUISE OVER THE INDIAN STREETS -WITHOUT A SECOND THOUGHT GO FOR PULSARS..

  • By Prince mehta, October 31, 2010 @ 1:25 pm

  • By ATULGOKU, November 7, 2010 @ 10:38 am

Hi every biker.I have a pulsar150 dtsi and i am satisfy with this bike. The FZ is all ABOUT performance and just performence but the pulsar is a perfect allrounder in every mileage,in looks,in balance, and in realibilty too bajaj has very decent service centers in INDIA.THe bike parts are also cheap and easily available and suprizly pulsar150 can give a tough race to FZ YOUR vaulet will be happy and your riding pillon too because its comfortable.RIDING pozition is not comfortable than the FZ. but Ensure that you WILL not sleep while Riding.

  • By Anant, November 8, 2010 @ 10:29 pm

    Pulsar looks good and sporty.
But It has some problems with rear break that it is not sensitive. some metal parts are not finished well, because when you clean it by using your hands there will be 90 % possibility of injury. Color is very cheep quality. Overall you can say Pulsar has not been finished well.

  • By HImanshu, February 8, 2011 @ 11:39 pm

i bought yamaha fazer a week ago. i did all the market study and found fazer as a better option. eveybody was telling me to go for pulsar but on basis of my knowledge of machines and research i bought fazer.
and i must tell u i did the right thing.
when it comes to yamaha fazer, it produces 14ps@7000 rpm. no other bike produces 14 ps of power @ 7000 rpm (except r15). fazer 153 cc delivers torque of 14 nm which is equal to pulsar 180 cc engine.
tubeless tyre, fine mileage, superb looks, awesome handeling, great control, comfortable riding position, minimum vibrations, good top speed, good engine response @ low rpm, duel headlamps, stylish silencer, great pick up, musculin body, etc etc man you dont get these things in pulsar 150 or 180. the only problem with fazer is its price otherwise the machine is great. when yo ride it you feel that you are riding something good and the feeling is much much much better than riding a pulsar.
i have shared my own experience.
    go for it. yes yamaha

  • By Aneesh, February 16, 2011 @ 10:31 pm

  • By Rohit, March 22, 2011 @ 5:17 am

Guys FZ16 is best bike in 150 segemet.
    Far better than pulsar,cbz,hunk,apache.

Pulsar has got power wd mileage but after a year u have to heavily spend money foe engine.Engine life is not good and maintaince is proper issue wd this bike.
For Apache mileage is good. pick up is good.
Again in long run engine life and service problem is there.apache has vibration problem .Service section of tvs is very bad.
Hero Honda has both hunk and cbz x good bikes .
Both have good mileage and pickup..cheaper than fz.Stylish wise lacks from fz.But ride comfort and sporty stylish look fz is far better .
Unicorn is also good. But spare parts of bike are expensive also.Cant stand infront of FZ.
You have to wait(long waiting) for a long to get unicorn.

Above all we cant compare Yamha(Japaneese tech..)wd pulsar or tvs..

So guys it is your personal view which bike do you want.
Go have test drive of all bikes.
    Also see your budget.

About me: i am proud owner of FZ16 from six months.
My bike i can say is wowwwwwwwww.
    Low maintaince.Pick up is gr8.
    Riding comfort is awsome.

Mileage i m gettin is 40-45 within city.

I can recommend this bike who dont want to cry for mileage.
If you are not worried about mileage go for FZ16…

One more thing Comfort level of riding FZ16 is best in all bikes.
Pulsar can n’t compare in comfort ,gear shifting, look.
Pick up is much better than pulsar.
Pulsar gets so many problems after a year.

So better go for FZ16 or Unicorn

    Proud owner Of FZ16

  • By Rohit, March 22, 2011 @ 5:24 am

Those who cry for mileage ..and mileage is only thing in their mind should go for bikes like pulsar apache(150cc segment)
Who need comfort style low maintaince ,easy to ride in traffic and the best thing superb balance….
People who are saying pulsar has better balancing tha fz ,,are lying because they have n’t ride fz..

i have used pulsar for 2 years…i sold it off due to its maintaince..
Now i bought FZ which is best…

  • By Alex, August 19, 2012 @ 8:21 am

In comparison to the pulsar series(except 220) bold fz16 and fz-s is way better. The pulsar series gives much power but its engine efficiency is no where close to yamaha’s. Pulsar craves for maintenance. I have ridden both rides and both are pretty good. Though pulsar is good for the first 2 year of purchase after then it breaks down. The distorted engine sound, mirage coming down around 40 makes it a poor choice for long run against fz. FZ is swift, techy , agile and also comes in a unique design and it also gives a high performing engine.

  • By Sushil, October 9, 2012 @ 12:57 am

i think, Pulsar is good, but riding is a fun in FZS. There is some probile in new pulsar engine…
