  • By varun kandoria, December 3, 2008 @ 9:50 am

from all above readings tvs apache rtr 160 is the true winner nd it must be winner because i also have an apache rtr 160 (yellow).and i wish it will become the best bike for the year 2008……………………

  • By Sanjay, December 3, 2008 @ 11:44 pm

Hi prathem…im a very proud owner of apache rtr..and i definitely go for rtr compared to fx..well
1.looks- even i dint like the head lamp and meter in fz but it does look stylish but rtr’s new model comes with air scoops which also look great..
    2. speed- top speed of fz is 132 n rtr is around 130. both have more or less the same top speed.
3.power- fz is 14bhp@7500rpm n rtr 15.7bhp@8500..so comparatively rtr is a little better.
4..roadgrip- rtr’s wheel base is a bit less so theres a bit difficult to control in wet roads at high speeds..fz is better in roadgrip as it has wider base…
5.riding- rtr is great in cities but on the long ride its a bit uncomfortably but i dont think u would go for long rides on a daily basis..and fz i dont kno…
6..mileage- my rtr is giving around 50..fz is around 40..
7.money- rtr is 66k fz is 65k so quite the same..but after u get the bike mileage really matter..
8.handling- rtr is smooth n its got 2-piece handle by which u can get greater control n get through traffic easily…but in fz its single piece handle which is a bit harder

on the whole i suggest u to buy rtr compared to fz…

  • By mayur, January 4, 2009 @ 12:23 am

fz has jus got a name —yamaha behind it….nuthng else………rtr speaks for itself……..manly built up……rtr is made for a raw athelete……not fz……..yamaha needs to kick on…….

  • By ron, January 18, 2009 @ 2:15 am

  • By harry, February 2, 2009 @ 3:44 am

this is harry here.. am working in an automobile industry as a product engineer.
I prefer everyone to go with yamaha.. yamaha FZ 16 now.. coz i had a TVS bike from which i could say that yamaha engines are far better that TVS.. take a ride on RTR and jus cross 80km speed . and try out with the same in FZ 16. once u do a rash drive with the TVS brands, u can feel that u might have gone for yamaha than TVS. what ever features thay bring with the TVS, the engines are not properly designed.. i believe that RTR is having a good pickup and perfomance.. but for the better engine life u could go for yamaha..

And for comfort and smooth ride. yamaha is better than tvs.
    i prefer yamaha.

  • By sami, February 4, 2009 @ 9:17 am

  • By Mr.Madras, February 28, 2009 @ 4:14 am

    hi… sahil Said….

Should i belive that? did u touch the speed of 130 in your FZ…
and milage is 50… ha ha ha.. Can u pls give me your address… i want to see your amazing bike….

  • By harry, March 12, 2009 @ 3:19 am

    hello Mr. Madras…

afcourse Mr. sahil said was correct… even i do have an FZ and am getting a mileage of 50Km/l too..

see there is some thing to be followed while driving a bike or any other automobile.. the main issue for the mileage is that, matching the proper gear according to the speed.. if u pick the proper gear for the speed u will get a good mileage.. thats sure.. as am working (engineer) in an automobile company i could say this surely.. and u can testing the top speed at once in a while.. that will also not reduce u’r mileage all of a suddern.. better let me know u’r address.. i’l come and see how u are riding u’r bike..

  • By merwyn, April 5, 2009 @ 7:31 pm

0 – 80 kph comes far quicker in FZ than RTR. look at the torque ppl it’s almost 0.9 nm higher. bhp does not influence much in pick up.

  • By gokul, April 22, 2009 @ 3:00 pm

i own a FZ 16 .i dont know is it better than RTR or not because i didnt rode the RTR ,but i say it is way better than pulsar 180 and when i rode my fz after a pulsar 200,me and my friend who own a pulsar 200 get the feelig that FZ 16 is closer to the peformence of pulser 200.Belive it or not it is true that my FZ gives 52+ milage two times before first service and i got average of 40+.But iam not happy with its rear brake because it is not powerful.
it amized me and my friends that on a drag with pulsar 200 ,FZ 16 stay closer to 200 till its speed from 0-80
so iam so happy to have a bike like this,go for FZ 16

  • By Sandy, April 24, 2009 @ 12:56 pm

Its not all about the brand name or the bike ……….
Its all about the STRIKING LOOKS……………..
At the end of the day for BIKE LOVERS mileage dost matters all it matters is all new striking FZ 16 from world LEADER ## YAMAHA##

  • By akhilesh, April 24, 2009 @ 9:34 pm

man no doubt go for yamaha fz
i have both apache 160 and yamaha fz
but surely fz is much better than apache
the ride of apache is not much comfortable as compared to fz
moreover the breaking of fz is superb which makes riding in city very easy
apache is not controllable after crossing 100kmph
i own apache but after my bro brought fz
    i hate apache
the milage is around 40-45 of both the bikes

  • By daniel, April 26, 2009 @ 8:52 pm

plzzzz tell the correct mileage of FZ 16 or FZ-s ….please reply me any one who owns this bike will surely know the exact mileage of this bike …….i don want the mileage which is given by the company(40 -45)….give me some exact answer ..do expect answers from the people who own this bike

  • By gokul, April 29, 2009 @ 5:25 pm

most of the FZ16 owners getting 40-45

    rtr now way………..
Be a MAN dude go for the devil

  • By Pradeep, May 10, 2009 @ 1:46 am

    Hi everybody
price diffence between FZ and RTR FI 160 . Which remains the same after a year or two.

  • By gokul, May 12, 2009 @ 10:30 am

still say go for FZ 16

some days ago for the first time i rode a CBZ extrem and a RTR 160.
CBZ is powerful (not up to RTR).but i still say FZ 16 has more stability and handiling than RTR at higher speed and engine pick up is better than RTR 160.
CBZ extrem is no way closer to FZ 16.

  • By Sulthan, May 13, 2009 @ 7:38 am

It seems so funny since all guys supporting for Rtr r just crazy….. u people comparing YAMAHA made Fz with Just TVS made RTR…wat ever may be merits of RTR say pick up mileage handling dual disc… so and so… never again compare YAMAHA wit TVS…….All ur advantages of RTR gets out with one single word RELIABILITY of engine…which TVS has ZERO reliabilty….. YAMAHA makers of RACE bikes…..and just small children bikes are made by TVS… so dont again compare YAMAHA wit any other brand…..only competable brand s HONDA……

  • By gokul, May 13, 2009 @ 11:24 am

Still say go for Yamaha FZ 16

  • By Aaron Cardoz, May 14, 2009 @ 3:28 am

If you are going to race on the track. Get the RTR, clear winner.

IF you are going to ride in the City, for city riding conditions where comfort and stability is of importance, FZ is a better option.

The FZ is undoubtedly an outstanding bike because each and every aspect of the bike is well though of and very few things are left incomplete.

Yeah, very true kick start, bigger seat, rear disc, more power and some other features if added would make it unbeatable, but hats off to yamaha to get bold and take a true initiative after its previous failures…

  • By sanjib, May 14, 2009 @ 5:45 am

  • By vicky, May 20, 2009 @ 3:03 pm

after going through all the comments above,i feel fz is far more superior to every other make in the market so far…(in its own segment ranging from 150-200 cc)although pulsar 200 is a haevy and a deadly machine but fz promises to give it a hard time…so i think fz is a gud option to choose..afterall its yamaha….although i always trusted the pulsar familty but now the quality of the engine has dipped big time…so no more trust on pulsars…tried going for the new ug3 pulsar..but its a total flop as compared to the eqarlier classic models…was thinking of going for yamaha this time…no doubt everything produced in this world has something nagative but fz seems to have only a few negatives…like mentioned above dual disk, enhanced speedometer and stuff like that…if all these things could come with fz it would become an unbeatable beast and the lord of the streets…..hence i have finally decided to go for fz 16 not fzs.fzs is not gud may be for others but it didn’t catch my attention…fz 16 rocks…and my advice to all the other bikers who are looking for a machine with every possible feature and reliability…yamaha is the name,…go get it…”"YES YAMAHA”"

  • By pramod, May 21, 2009 @ 8:38 am

rtr is v good n strong bike,,wdout any doubts go for it,u wil lv riding this

  • By vipul, May 22, 2009 @ 3:20 am

  • By Varun, June 5, 2009 @ 12:53 am

    @ rajat
Dude, Fzee 16 falls in the same segment of bikes viz. 150-160cc as TVS Apache…the only thing that belies its interior is its impressive & macho exterior which exudes the same kind of confidence & power as that of any 200-220cc bike, but thats only purely in terms of looks!
…to top it all, despite possessing such a heavy & devilish look it just weighs 124kgs(kerb wt.) which is one of the lowest in its class…and as far as handling & stability is concerned, its the best bike currently on indian streets, period!
…So yeah, lookwise it might be an affectation of a superbike(dats why ur father thought dat its a very powerful bike), nevertheless the power & throttle response it provides would keep you in high spirits for the rest of your life…Go for it!!

  • By Varun, June 5, 2009 @ 2:12 am

    Choose yourself…

Both FZee & Apache are in a class of their own…it’ll be difficult to pit them against each other & decide a clear winner so am listing down some nifty points for you ppl to pick the most suitable bike for urself!

LOOKS: FZee beats Apache hands down! (although Apache also has a sporty look but when it comes to inspiring awe & amazement, nothing comes close to beating the raw, macho & mean look of FZee)

HANDLING & STABILITY: When it comes to handling & stability, leave alone Apache, no other bike currently on indian road irrespective of its segment can give FZee a run for its money, its a clear winner!

PICKUP(0-60kmph): FZee has the best pickup(0-60kmph) as compared to any other bike in its segment(ex. pulsar 150/180cc, unicorn, hunk, suzuki GSR 150, Apache)…thanx to its marvellous Torque(14Nm).

PICKUP(60kmph and above): Apache doesn’t fail you here,it’ll zoom ahead of FZee which starts losing the punch after 60kmph.

TOPSPEED: Now here is where the Apache RTR Fi takes away the crown, its an undisputed winner.

MILEAGE: This is another one of FZee’s concern area, its mileage is heavily dependant on the way you ride it…rip it apart & u’ll have a mileage no more than 30-35kmpl, ride it like a 100cc bike(speed 40-50kmph) n u can be lucky enough to obtain a fuel effiecieny of 50+(but thats not its meant for!)…overall u can expect to procure a mileage in mid forties. TVS Apache on the other hand consistently gives you a mileage of 50 -60kmpl, even heavy ripping would keep the mileage in sane limits!(read 40+).

    My take…

@ All those guys who want a bike with an absolute STUNNING look, the BEST handling & stability, the FASTEST pickup(0-60kmph) in its class coupled with an INTERNATIONAL n reliable brand name…
    …Go for Yamaha FZee 16!!

For those who are contented with looks second only to FZee, a better mileage and are vying to achieve the topmost speed…
…TVS Apache RTR Fi is the bike for you!

  • By Munazir, June 12, 2009 @ 11:33 am

  • By gaurav, June 17, 2009 @ 8:44 am

fzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz is a real beast dude and those killing looks kill the girls.so go for fz16 only

  • By Tushar gokhale, June 20, 2009 @ 3:20 am

First @ all Yamaha people – where were you guys when Yamaha lauched fazer, gladiator and bla bla bikes? Point is no body was buying Yamaha . Because everybody makes mistake and so did Yamaha. Brand is not every thing. Bajaj and TVS both are Indian brands and both are producing world class bikes. Both brands now selling bikes in north America. Don’t be bias about brands. Only go for quality, reliability, your driving comfort and value for money. Remember driving comfort chages for every individual and one must make decision on its own.

i had RTR but now i took FZ16, its superb in al aspects

narasa for U either FZ r RTR is same bcoz both r of same height, even FZ is kool for ur height dude, go for FZ

also i met with an accident(small one) with Apache last month and d fork assembly broken like sticks, d bloody TVS manufracturing seriously pls dont go for any TVS products i cant believe how it broken all d parts for small accident.

if U dont like FZ atleast go for hero honda bikes better dan TVS, am not a anti to TVS but my Apache broken like sticks dude believe me’

  • By Azar, July 12, 2009 @ 10:19 am

I tested both fz and rtr and i came to the decision to buy fz.only the problem is that fz lags in mileage thats all….in all other aspects it overcomes rtr….its rite rtr has good pick up….but thats aint a big reason to get rtr to elected…fz has really great riding comfort an also it has a great control ….it has got a great braking system…..after all at the fisrt sight itself fz enlights our eye by its stunnin sporty look…..so the verdict is that go for fz…..

  • By Anand, July 17, 2009 @ 10:44 am

Guys, I have read all the comments in this forum. Undoubtedly FZ wins. I dint like the way number plate is placed in FZ16 and FZs, That gives an unfinished feeling. Well I am going only for fazer 150.” looks stunning. And price is only 83k On Road in Blore compared to the hefty pricing of R15. One question remains. I am 6′ 2″ . Do you think, seating would be comfortable enough for me ?

  • By Fz Fan, July 21, 2009 @ 5:35 am

People no doubt FZ is the BEST!!.
It has the most stable ride, road grip and comfortable riding position.
Even though the mileage is comparitively less than RTR its worth it.
Please dont compare YAMAHA with TVS.
A proud owner of YAMAHA FZ.

  • By keerthi, July 25, 2009 @ 10:01 am

hai friends i choose fz because it is far superior than rtr . The main thing is the looks and the speed .i have touched the top speed of 135kmph . Where in rtr it has touched only 130kmph but the mileage of the fz is 50kmpl when you drive in soft manner . So always fz is the devil among all the 150cc bikes.

  • By Dini, July 25, 2009 @ 3:21 pm

Hi Guys , after reading all this comments , it clearly says that Yamaha is best in terms of reliability. However I personally spoke to few RTR owners who have been riding it for 2-3 years and surprisingly they have no complaints. If it trui I will go for RTR ( but engine reliabilty really concerns me)else I would go for RTR( as I like the looks of RTR 180).Does RTR is not reliable, what kind of problem does RTR riders really have with the RTR bike after 2-3 years.I am going to purchase a bike in a week ,I like the looks of rtr 180 and speedometer , rear break are awesome, However doubt the reliabilty of TVS engines.please suggest the best one.I dont need top speed, but a mileage around 45, with good handling and looks will do.

  • By guru, July 26, 2009 @ 4:15 am

fz-s is uncomparable in terms of looks. but when it comes bout power, its dosent raise much.
mine never crosses the limit of 125kmph. even after using fully synthetic oils.

Please dont list to those who are saying that ” Apachi RTR 160″ is not good bike. It is realy very good believ me. Consistently it is giving Avg. of 50 +. See tou shold take care of your bike. Ride it properyl. Use proper gear for perticuler speed. While Riding only take care that you are using the right Gear at right speed, then you will find no other bike even stand in front of TVS APACHI RTR 160 & 180.

    Go for it…..

I think FZ 6 has a serious flaw in it that it doesn’t give a kick start. I live in mumbai and when it rains, usually the electrical systems of the vehicle are the first ones to konk off. And if your starter konked off you have no other way to start the bike except for pushing :) i know this since i used to own a kinectic honda few years back which was the first scooter in those days (days when bajaj chetak scooters were considered hip) having electric start. but i know from my experience on it from riding it for more than 15 years is that half the time my starter never used to work and i had rely on kick starting my scooter. So folks specially living in rainy areas, beware of all vehicles relying heavily on electronics for there basic stuff.

    To be frank
RTR 160 dual disc (non FI) is quite better compared to other RTR (160 and 180) .
I own one and it gives me a mileage of 45-50 even when I drive on an average at 80-100 speeds.
The bike is bit shaky when increasing the speeds above 65 but after 70 it is rock solid.
You can feel it griping the road better at higher speeds and the handling is also not bad even at that speed.
The brakes as quite efficient and can save you at times ;-)

Yamaha is always known for best pickup bikes (I mean RX100) series and it keeps the thing going with 4 stroke also.
the design of the bike is eye catching but not at all comfortable. you have to bend on all times not good for long rides. while at RTR you can extend your arms and sit straight also.
good for having tubeless radials in yamaha, work for 30 km even if punctured but getting fixed a punctured tubeless radial costs quite more than normal tyres.
overall at price and power RTR160 and fz are same but after buying mileage and maintainence is that makes the cost ;-)

    1)fz16/s rocks in looks
2)it has a good and an international company engine
    3)it has awesome tyres
    4)it will have long life
5)it is comfortable , and its braking system is best and it has a good balance
6)it light in weight just 130 kg
7)last is it is far better then tvs rtr 160 interms of looks, balance , breaking , power , and comfortable in long ride .
my experience with my bike is daily 60 km
at last i wouuld say east or west fz is the best in its class .
    rtr suckssssssssssssssss

  • By jak, September 27, 2009 @ 4:42 am

    and no one rocks dude

You all know what…. These all comments will not make any difference on anyone thinking. You all know what you what you want and what you like…………… I have FZ I know that not a single company can competi YAMAHA as it is the number one company in two wheeler all over the world…. To all the Apache owners let me know a single bike of TVS other than Apache which is success and have a good or any thing………So TVS looks good in only scooty……Yes YAMAHA!

  • By Arvind, December 11, 2009 @ 11:36 am

    I m sure u will choose FZ

  • By Amith, December 19, 2009 @ 6:11 am

Fz-16 has good looks whereas Apache has good power ..but both are weak at mileage So better dont buy any bike

  • By Srak, December 20, 2009 @ 8:05 am

Guys, I bought a FZ16 immediately after it was launched in 2008. I found it really great specially the PICKUP, HANDLING, CORNERING are BEST, The meter could have been semi digital leaving the rpm diplay a clock. The monooshock gives a good comfort.

But, when it comes to mileage, i always find a tough time while refuelling. Comparing with other FZs here, i am lucky coz my bike gives 35+ mileage but i think it still suckz.

Kick should have been added. I usually find it difficult in starting in the early mornings.

But still better than RTR. I suggest to go for FZ. Fazer is ugly. YAMAHA made DONKEY OUT OF A HORSE!!

  • By Srak, December 20, 2009 @ 8:10 am

    Still dont get confused guys….

FZ is far better than RTR

Engine of YAMAHA is really best. I mean all YAMAHA bikes. Re: the enzines, You can go for YAMAHAS and HONDAS. Other are just cycles with so called engines…..! Looks doesnt only matter guys… Go for YAMAHAS………………… not APACHE…!

I have fz-16 and i tried apache-RTR,cbz,hunk,pulsar-150 before purchasing fz. Man fz-16 rockz in every aspect.
Good cntls, power, massy lookz make dis bike undisputed champion.
How could we compare dis bike with those old shits n rtr.
but, no doubt R-15 is better than fz-16. Yamaha is true champion no body understands biker’s heart better dan yamaha now ruling the streets again after RX-100. If u love bikin. trust me have ride of yamaha……………………………………
long time waiting but fruit is before us all so, Yes Yamaha……..

hey guys i ve read all the above comments it s like confusing all buyers ,first of all i own a yamaha fz 16 i m using it for the past 7 months ,i ve already had many races with my friends apache 160 carb & efi versions.im 5.10′ in height and around 72 in weight.to compare these 2 bikes is not a good idea , both are different in each and every aspect ,rtr is a track focussed bike and fz is mainly designed for ease in roads. you guys select ur beast for ur needs,i ve reached a topspeed of 136 in rtr and 128 in fz,if u r a racer go for rtr.but fz is damn good in streets and a head turner too.think nice and select wisely guys …

  • By Rajasekar, April 16, 2010 @ 5:36 am

there’s a lot of conversation going btween FZ AND RTR

1.FZ a foreign Make / TVS Indian Make – go for Made in India
2.Performance of Engine- FZ have a slight edge over RTR, but depends on riders quality
3.Mileage – RTR 160 has a slight advantage.. but RTR 180 and FZ are same 35-40
4.Seating- Apache little painful for long drives but for city its good.. for pillon rider ie. the seat for second one apache is good.
5.Pick up- apache 160 has slight advantage… its good with 180 RTR.. great one ..even perform better than pulsar 180
6.Looks – Both look sportive… but we can do stickering in apache.
7.Tyres and braking- FZ has the advantage with a broader and good tyre…. but Apache uses its indegenious tvs tyres.
8.SOUND-good in apache especial u will enjoy durign night ride

    Hai all…..
I came through all comments. I am the owner of FZ i remember once i was going in fz highway i neared a RTR all of a sudden got road race as wat all guys do. The speed in rtr was very good even pick up we were going in same track racing the same speed over a 40sec the engine sound came different and the guy was fear in his bike vibration then i just saw my speed meter it was 108km/hr then only i came to know i had crossed 100. It was very smooth.Fz has very good break system. Thats very bad who follow me they use to slip due to sudden break in fz. They don’t have control many happen to me even they dashed me. According to millage rtr beats and according to full fill a bike fz beats.

Yamaha FZ has very less space for pillion rider so it wont be spacious if ladies sit in single side position.

  • By Raj, May 23, 2010 @ 11:21 pm

Hi guys…….. many people here are confused with these two bikes even i was in the same way…….. but i think this helps you to make a gud desition………

Both the bikes are well suited for the guys around 5.3″ to 5.8″ ….. and coming to the milage fz gives the milage of 40 in average with the stressed engein it gives around 30 to 35kmpl ……… when the bike is driven in the condition ie 40kmhr to 45kmhr it gives a milage if 45 to 47kmpl but i guss taking fz and riding in 40 to 50 is useless becoz yamaha gives only the performence this bike is really good for handling it gives u comfort and only made for indian roads but…fz would be more impressive with the rear disk … this bike gives good perfomence and never lets u down

coming to RTR this is a 160cc segment which gives 15.2bhp just a 1.2bhp from FZ . apache RTR is really good at cornering you can feel the power of this bike …… it gives you good milage around 50 to 55kmpl . but the ride is hard you can reallyfeel the bike heavy in the long drives… more over this bike has got some complaints on engine vibration after 70kmhr and very poor tyre perfomence which am not sure…..

so according to me FZ is the best bike i would suggest becoz its YAMAHA…… it really gives a good performance, handling, comfort ec….the bike is made specially for indian roads tou can hardly feel a bump on the road… the bike just lags behide only in milage but the overall performence u can really trust this bike trust me you will never feel down with this bike ……….

  • By javed, May 27, 2010 @ 12:18 am

the comparison is quite good from ur side bcoz u r an FZ owner but did u ever tried APACHE rtr or FI version……

everything is true about FZ m agree but dont talk about the performance of FZ….performance wise even PULSAR is far better than this….
FZ is only meant for calm city riding with better control and style for boyz not for man……

but APACHE is meant for true performance with descent racing style which is not in FZ and most of the features are unique WRT to other same segment bikes….yes there are vibes in APACHE but only for 4500 to 5500 rpm.. after and before that is is as smooth as FZ…..and about Tyre quality its not bad as u heard…..TVS has developed this tyre specially for APACHE thats why everyone says that it is very stable at corners……

  • By Anish.A.S, June 4, 2010 @ 7:55 am

It seems so funny since all guys supporting for Rtr r just crazy….. u people comparing YAMAHA made Fz with Just TVS made RTR…wat ever may be merits of RTR say pick up mileage handling dual disc… so and so… never again compare YAMAHA wit TVS…….All ur advantages of RTR gets out with one single word RELIABILITY of engine…which TVS has ZERO reliabilty….. YAMAHA makers of RACE bikes…..and just small children bikes are made by TVS… so dont again compare YAMAHA wit any other brand…..only competable brand s HONDA……

i own an Fz16, i get a mileage of around 38 to 44 (depending up on my ride) but the bike gives you a lot other facts which make you forget this..
the one and only thing i think RTR stand one step ahead of th Fz is,, when it comes to the mileage…
    but Guys…… WAKE UP….!!
you’re comparing two super performance bikes here.. and a difference of a mileage around 8 kms,, which the RTR has to hold up against Fz, should not be a matter of concern…
    because, if you want mileage,,
you go for herohonda passion or discover or so..
But Speaking about the Performance, The FZ stands way ahead of the RTR.
    Fz v/s. RTR…??
I think it would be like comparing Toyota v/s Sonalika though they both have SUV launched here…. Not Comparable..

  • By Mahendrasingh Panihar, June 5, 2010 @ 7:15 pm

I have FZ 16 and if you want to have a bike with all comfort take FZ 16.
And, regarding Apache, I raced with Apache 160 and 180 both and I won both race. So you can think if a bike with 153 cc (FZ 16) beats 180 cc bike (Apache) than it has something in it and its a real LORD OF STREETS. So I would like to say that, you all know that not a single bike can stand infront of YAMAHA bike. If YAMAHA is the company, then there is no need to ask anyone about performance. Performance is always best of YAMAHA. FZ 16 is the only bike in with widest radial nylon zapper (type). That’s it…. No one can describes in words for YAMAHA…….Say……..”‘”"YES YAMAHA”"”"………..

  • By Javed, June 7, 2010 @ 5:21 am

ur words “‘the one and only thing i think RTR stand one step ahead of th Fz is,, when it comes to the mileage…’”

    some more things are there
POWER (must for performance) isn’t it?

and reliability::: did yamaha give U any guarantee certificate of durability or U want to present to ur GRAND children by keeping its durability without enjoying real performance
anyhow 3 yrs warranty is with every bike:::

and yes if u are not worried about mileage go for above 200 CC bikes:::anyhow u have wasted ur 74k for a normal 153 cc mill only looks and yes control wise it is best in segment..

    now come to Mr. Mahendra
u conquered over rtr 160 or 180 might be u were in dreams on that time

  • By Krupanshu, June 14, 2010 @ 2:07 am

Mardon ki bike matlab fz16.superb bike.it gives alots of confidence while driving and handling in indian roads.gr8 suspensions.strong torque.average is better than honda activa.YAMAHA is the best.

    Hi frnd

that im sugest u take the byke on ur decisin coz user satisfaction is the important to ride……apache users wil say u apache is the best lik dat some yamaha fans will say fz is gud in pick up faster than all 150cc bykes…. im not saying u that to take yamaha recently i had bought a yamaha fz-s on high way im gettin 47 on roads(local) gettin 43 over all im gettin 45 .. APACHE is also gettin only 46 but it is betr i milage but its nt gud in pickup n its is very dangerous in rainy seson, frm fz yamaha u will get long length tires it never skids lik other bykes when u bends…. finally its stylish n gud in looks….. it s d lords for roads n for all bykes…….. finally remembr one thing if u purchase fz-s all 150cc owners looks used to see u nur bikr but ur not wasting ur looks to see all pulsars, apaches, unicorns, s bykes etc…. think ur self n make a gud decision with better features like fz-s or fz16………..09032239030 satish….

Guys dont go by the advice, just go for a test drive on both…………..the charm of fz will attract u automatically towards my yamaha fz………check out urself.because statics can fail but the experince of test drive of both bike ill take u to the correct point i.e. to the FZ16……….THANKS YAMAHA.

  • By kiran, July 7, 2010 @ 3:35 am

I agree that Apache has more power than FZ-16, but in curves FZ takes on Apache. if u say apache can clock more top end, think about cornering, u will rest in hospitals if there is no control. here is where FZ leads. Apache’s engine is not smooth, tyres are worst, no good control and comfort. FZ-16 has superior quality engine, smooth, and refined. it has very good road grip, superb tyres infact widest in its catogary. MRF has specifically made these tubeless tyres for fz’s. and coming on to power, it never shakes till 110 kmph, its initial is good. and u can feel its real power in around 80 kmph. it runs like a beast and tell u to rew it. its the only nacked bike in its catogary. the weight is cantrally distributed so that the bike never toggeles.
AND this is for those buggers who talk about power. if u really want to show the power, just a DAYATONA kit and FZ-16 will clock 145 kmph and Apache will stand watching FZ go.

    This is it, stop thinking.

GUYS i have checked both bikes for months and this is what i felt.

    GO with latest technology.

    GO with sexy bike

    Say YES YAMAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!

GUYs why go for a tvs engine when you can go for a yamaha engine.they are not world leaders for nothing. anyway i own an fz its brand new. i was wondering wats the max speed to which you should take a new bike in the1) 2nd gear 2)3rd gear.

but if you guys are buying a new bike do remember 1 thing the rear tyres of the fz. if anything pierces it. you can only go to a yamaha service guy, but an rtr can be taken to any dumb garage

  • By Enrique Onik, July 31, 2010 @ 9:02 pm

Look Yamaha Fz16 keeps pressure on Apache RTR Fz16 it will speed out through corners while apache takes its time while it cannot create good angle like Fz16. Both of them r a class of eachother. You cannot out run anyone by any qualities of eachother. But as Javed as mr Mahirdra u must have done it in ur dreams but it have picked a tight track then its possible.

  • By shafas, August 1, 2010 @ 7:28 am

hey guys don’t go for TVS bikes… i am a sad owner of tvs apache 160. initially the bike was good in pickup and power… but later 1 year my bike lost it’s pickup and engine starts to sound really high..also its getting very hot soon after riding 5-10 kms.. i hate apache and the bloody tvs.. tvs bikes are lack in reliability… trust me… plz don’t go for a tvs made bike… i think yamaha is far better in reliability..

  • By Sourabh, August 3, 2010 @ 3:48 am

hi! I am from nagpur and doing engg. In mechanical field. I would like to one important thing about the bike specially to those who count radial tyre of the fz.
The width of the tyre of a bike depends on several features like the power of bike, max required grip at the corner for max speed etc. The tyre in refresh rtr are of zapper nylo grip. The manufacturers have a great reseach on the tyres and removed the tvs tyre with zapper. These tyres provides better grip at the corners.
Where as in the fz’s the area of tyre that touches the road is much wider which provide much more grip while going straight but while taking turn the area of contact is reduced results in light grip with the road and poor handling. The extra grip while going straight reduces the average. The fz’s manu manufacturer of fz’s they know that the wide tyre are attractive. So the people thinks that the wide tyre are better.
But this can’t give expected performance.
In addition the design is also not aerodynamic. Which makes it difficult to go for higher speed.
The wind screen makes it easier to go for high speed. The debet is over and apache won. So best of luck.

  • By sourabh, August 3, 2010 @ 4:58 am

Hi! i am from nagpur doing mechanical engg.
I would like to tell one of the most important thing about the bike. Specially to those who count the fz’s radial tyre to compare.

the width of the bike depends on the several feature of the bike like power, weight of the bike, top speed etc. The tyre of the new apache 160 rtr is from zapper nylogrip. The manufacturer have done a great research for manufacturing this bike and replaced the old tvs tyre with zapper nylogrip. this tyres provides better grip at the top speed as well as corners.

Whereas in the fz the area of contact while bike is going straight is much more than that of apache which provide more grip while going straight. But if you see the tyre from back while the bike is taking a turn you will know that the area of contact is reduced while tilting the bike at the corner which results in reduction of grip, so you can’t take the turn at higher speed with this bike. While going straight the extra grip of the tyre reduces the top speed and the average of the bike. Everybody likes the wider tyre but you should know the reason behind the thinner tyre. The manufacturer of the fz have made it as a stylish bike. This wide tyre really looks cool but reduces speed. That is the reason why the yamaha r15 is having thinner tyres.
In addition the design of the fz is not aerodynamic. At the higher speed you will feel like wind is slapping your face and you cannot ride the bike at higher speed for long time.
Whereas the design of the rtr is aerodynamices and the wind sheild make it easier to go on the top speed and you can enjoy it for relatively longer time.
Thus here the debet is over and apache rtr won. so good luck and get your bike……….

  • By Sandeep, August 10, 2010 @ 4:41 am

Hello folks undoubetedly fz16 is the clear winner where as apache rtr sucks simply bcos ive got fz and always when i travel in the roads of bangalore ive given ruff competition to rtr 160 overall rtr looks like luna or mpoed how cud they even release that bike in the market it is unauthorizzed. Fz16 has got raw muscle power awesome handling superb braking and breath taking pickup which leaves behing a crap like apache pulsar 150180 and many other. So its never too late who dont have it yet dreaming of having one go grab yours and become the king of the street and the lord of the street.

I believe investing 74k on a Yamaha is not a bad idea, drive it and see man! there is no bike i have seen in 150cc segment like tat, whether its looks or performance, best part is the performance on the whole, i bet no bike in 150cc gives u that pleasant feel when u go beyond 100Kmph, its god damn smooth, i actually feel like its smoothness increases with speed, U will never feel wen u have reached 80 or 90 unless u see u r speedometer. The only bike u can actualy talk for comparison is honda unicorn, may be it doesn look striking but got the good refined engine like this ones… ppl cum to knw the values of engine and refinement wen their bikes get older.

and yes it conquers Apache 160 & 180, show me a good race track, i ll prove it….

hi dude Fz is rocking but it had oly electric start no kick start available is the electric start reliable on all situation some one resolve this yaar

  • By TANMAY HOTKAR, September 17, 2010 @ 10:08 am

cc n bhp of fz is low s compare 2 rtr bt whn it practically comes on road fz livs rtr behind bcs fz is hving gd tourqe thn rtr so while riding engine has 2 carry load of its own, body n rider tht time tourqe helps fz 2 gt great pick-up. If u will put fz, rtr, pulser180 – 200 n also karizma in line b4 a flyover n start a race(alone or 2sit) uill find the result – The Winner = FZ. Like nothing is porfect in this world fz is not perfect bt still it has gd breaking distance. gd handling bcs of its wide handle n tyre n also the riding position helps rider 2 play wid the bike in ne condition.Apace rtr is gd example of engineering bt yamaha is 1of the co. who rules the world in bike manufacturing. If u r looking for bike n u r creazy for biking u shldn’t luk 4 avrg. M nt jst YAMAHA/FZ creazy bt hv shared my experience wid u

no way its gr8t no prob n 100% more reliable than bajaj,
Apaches any model is cooler than FZ range,
    Apaches colour style is gr8t
while FZ a head without mask on it sucks, and a number plate on its head in front like a selling price on it sucks,..n its look too is not tht impressive
i knw each bike has created its own mark,.
    i refer u too choose the bike u wish,…

  • By rahul, September 21, 2010 @ 7:42 am

  • By Vishal, October 8, 2010 @ 7:02 pm

    Hi Guys,
Even I had the Same Confusion when I Decided to buy Bike, I have googled for almost a month on this topic(when ever free in office).
so finally I took a Test Drive of both . My Exp was->
FZ :: Both Bikes looks great, Apache Looks Sporty and Fz has a Muscle kind of look, But I didnt like Fz’s HeadLamp.>>>>FYI.. FZ’s Petorl tank is plastic one means what you can see out side is plastic , if you fall from bike at 40s and above you will have to pay a heavy price of arnd 4K. but rtr has a metal tank.<< Its Performance was great then Fz,
    > The Fuel tank is metalic,
    > Great Breaking(But dont Buy rtr with Rear disc Bcos when disc breaks are applied the Rear wheel skids its very accurate specially when raining and you will loose the balence definately),
    > RTR looks cool Bcos of the Scoop .
    > The Racing siting Position with the footpegs pulled behind.
    > Milage (45-50) and trust me its giving me 48 on adding Shell and on HP it drops to 46.

FYI >> RTR Vibrates at speed and 65 and you can feel it, and you may also get nervous that you may loose your balance if you take bike above tat. but the vibration will give you a feel that you are riding in a very high speed(arnd 80) but if you look at speedo meter you will see that its just 60.

  • By monis, October 10, 2010 @ 11:42 pm

RTR is good with pickup….but is no where when compared with FZS…FZS is best in handling, comfort, power, breaking, balance….and most importantly it is dependable while RTRis not…..

  • By Rahul, October 15, 2010 @ 9:06 am

    Mr. Mahendra…..

Its true that everyone will attract to the beast looked FZ. But its hard to believe that you beat rtr 160 or 180 with ur yamaha FZ. The same old story… the tortoise win the race with rabbit……You might have raced with a man without racing spirit. I agree that rtr is a TVS make but its performance is outstanding when compared to the same range bikes. RTR is not recommended for tall guys.

    For looks, go with FZ
For performance, go with RTR ( only when you compare rtr with FZ)

  • By suranga, October 22, 2010 @ 8:23 am

wich bike is the best between fz and fzs yamaha

  • By Rahul, November 3, 2010 @ 10:52 am

  • By yuva, December 26, 2010 @ 12:12 pm

I test drove both bikes. I liked the RTR because it can higher top speed than the FZ and has a kick start and it gave better mileage.
But the FZ has better torque and will beat any other bike in this class till about 70-80 km/hr.after that all other bikes would go fast. This is because FZ has low end torque designed for city riding. It also is smooth and handles great. The wide rear tyre gives better grip and you can take turns at high speed.the RTR is not good in turns.the tyres skid like mad.

Hey, if u drop the FZ, and it gets scratched, just replace the panels and it becomes new.You cant do that in RTR.
The FZ usually gives you lesser mileage than the RTR . but then that depends on how you drive it.
    IN reliabilty,
Surely I can say the FZ would last longer and will be more reliable than the RTR.come on, its an yamaha product.Just look and any RX 100 model. It is lasting about 20 yrs now..Show me any pulsar or apache giving that reliablity.the fz is much better built also.just take a look at the weldings and finish of both bikes.then u will understand.that is why its slightly costly too.Yamaha gives u better for more.
IN THE LONG RUN THE YAMAHA WILL DEFINETLY PAY YOU BACK.see the previous old model rtrs, the dont look so good.

the FZ has wider handle bars, which gives you comfortable seating position and makes turning easier. but the RTR had split handle bars which is better at higher speed but very uncomfortable for lower speeds and city traffic.Tall guys, never take the RTR.It will break your back.

the FZ had negative pressure carburettor which will never jerk your bike,if suddenly given accelleration. It is a smooth accelarating bike.

I think one point or the other, the fz will fail to start because the battery is down.then you will think, i should have gone for RTR.but then, just push start and change the battery.its not going to happen every day.Dont buy RTR just because it has kick start.you dont have cars with kick start, do you?

Finally ,its ur choice, nobody can tell that FZ is bad or RTR is bad.you can only compare and tell features.take a test drive, inspect both bikes and decide.

If u want a racing machine designed for the track, change the tyres on the RTR and it is one lean mean machine.
for everything else, that is comfort, relaibilty, handling and (maybe(my opinion) looks), take the FZ.you cant go wrong.

and hey guys, if you want milage, get a splendour or a moped. dont take a 150cc bike and say, i want speed and mileage both….

    Hi yuva,
Wat u said is really true. If u are goin for 150cc bikes then its waste to have too much of a hope on mileage.45 – 50 km/l is gud for this range.Everythin depends on how you ride. I have driven RTR, its really good in pickup and speed but really feels rough. Its really uncomfortable in traffics as you get pressure on your back.
I like yamaha bikes for its performance and reliability. My only concern with FZ is that it only comes with self start. Ijust want to know how reliable or convenient to have FZ. I go for long distance rides so really concerned k if my bike breaks down den a small village repair shop should be ale to repair my bike(in terms of starting problem). Will be waiting for ur reply.THx

  • By Rajiv Joseph, February 25, 2011 @ 8:06 am

Better to go with FZ 16. Very nice bike. You can feel it wen ride.. superb power and look. Mileage is OK. RTR have no weight. When we apply break hardly we cant able to control.. but in the case of FZ its very nice… Now I am using FZ and my friend using RTR.. So I know about it…

  • By shajeeth, March 1, 2011 @ 2:53 am

pls suggest mi fz or appache

  • By tony garg, April 23, 2011 @ 10:00 am

    i like fz-s

  • By shashi, April 28, 2011 @ 2:24 am

fz-s mileage in city average is 35kmpl and highways 40kmpl. I am riding fz-s from 2 years, now my bike pickup came down. Any bike can easily overtake my fz-s during startup. i tuned the bike still the same.
if compared to Apache RTR 160, RTR mileage and pickup remains same even after 2 to 3 years.

  • By shashi, April 28, 2011 @ 3:53 am

    Hi sanjay,

fz-s is not good for long drive especially if your traveling more then 70km in one way, my fz-s had a gear box problem suddenly and bike stopped due to overheat in highway. if ur driving below 60kmph speed in highway fz-s is good

  • By shashi, May 2, 2011 @ 3:24 am

Latest Hot news on Yamaha FZ is the front fork looks bulky but its weakest in 150 segment bike, check the local mechanic for further info

  • By joshi, September 16, 2011 @ 6:15 am

    Hi Bikers,
Go for what you want ,
    But i like rtr 160
    1.rapid responce
2.good Mileage even compare all 150 cc range
3.you can control easily in top speed also
4.comapre to all not bad in spare parts
5.in 150 cc segment re sale value is less for all bikes .
So guys go for apache rtr vrooooooooooooooooooooom ,

  • By Rohit, September 26, 2011 @ 1:08 am

Fz16 is waste compared to apache rtr 160 it looks god and very comfort to ride.the tank of fz16 is.soo big and shape of body is too bad to seeee.

  • By sreejith.s, August 1, 2012 @ 6:30 am

  • By RTR IS THE BEST FOR HOT PICK UP AND FUEL PERFORMANCE, December 27, 2012 @ 3:10 am

apache rtr 160 has developed racing style where fzs is zero and RTR is also best in fuel performances where fzs is the fuel hungry .With hot pickup performance RTR is the boss but due to low rpm low horse power and wider wheel fzs is slower than rtr. So RTR is the bike for real man and fzs is the bike for real …..
